Well all I decided to start my thread about my on order A3 (see sig). My salesman called today to say that it is 100mi from the port of Houston and should be here by the end of the year. I ordered it on 28 Oct, and the production week was 27 Nov. If I do receive it by the end of the year then they will beat the EDD by a month, originally I was told 90 days. Wish me luck.

Luck!
You have MY car, except for the black leather. Too HOT in the South. Much better to have the lighter colors. You'll totally enjoy your new car.
Cheers!

I got the call today that my A3 is ready for pick up tomarrow. Tonight the sales manager calls me and tells me that they will not sale it to me unless I title it in TX. I live in VA and I told them when I ordered it that I need it titled in VA (sales tax VA 3% TX 6.4 not to mention that I will have to re-register in VA). I told him to refund my deposit. He said he will do it tomarrow to give me some time to think about it. For me I'll wait, save the miles from the drive back to VA and have a larger down payment. Their issue is having to wait to title it out of state for one to two weeks make this a next year transaction versus a this year transaction. Either way it is going to be a next year transaction, I don't think many Texans are as focused on the cold weather package as me.

Hmmm, that's interesting. My dealership didn't really care where I titled my car and I had almost a month before I left Colorado for Cali. I don't know, but if they told you you could title it in VA and went back on that, you definitely have a reason to be upset. On the other hand, if its the car you want is it worth the additional hassle? Again, like I said earlier I did find some interesting deals on A3s on yahoo.

Hold on! They can title the car in TX, but have them calculate the sales tax for VA and have them cut out the check for the sales tax to the state of VA. My dad runs a dealership in IA and I've bought cars in CA many times like this before. My cars are titled in IA, but I have to pay CA state taxes on the sale of the vehicle since I live here. It's opposite for me since I'd love to pay IA state tax opposed to CA, but it can be done.
Cheers!

No A3 for me, this is a cut and paste from the dealership thread, I just don't want to retype but I want everyone to know.
Do not go to Cavender Audi in San Antonio. When I ordered my A3 I told them that I needed to register the vehicle in VA since I am only in S/A temporarily. The called me yesterday to tell me that the
car arrived and I could pick it up today. The sales manager called me back and told me I had to register the car in TX because it would take a week to register it in VA and they have to sell it by the end of the year. I worked it out with my bank to get it titled in VA with no help from the dealer. So I go into day and notice that my name is spelled wrong on the purchase order...quick fix. Then I notice that the jacked up the price $2000 from our agreed upon price. They make two counter offers and I say no. The sales manager starts whining about how they are only going to make $735 if they sale it to me at the agreed upon price. I told him about this forum and they have the opportunity to get a good review and have more customers or get this review and lose money and customers. The choose not to honor thier word. BUYER BEWARE!!!
Also I contacted Audi Corporate and I am interested in their feedback.

This makes me very sad. I'm relocating to San Antonio in about 18 months when my wife retires, so it's not good to hear that the Audi dealer there sucks. Are there any other Audi dealers in the area? That really sucks.
Sorry.

Chef forgetting the local Cavender Audi (small dealership) , the next closest dealer is Roger Beasley Audi in Austin which has a lot of positive dealer comments.

That's good to hear. I'll be living a bit north of San Antonio anyway so that works. Good luck on the hunt.

I'm sure you'll enjoy your purchase. On a side note, I live in Maryland and work in Virginia and i got mine from Audi of Alexandria. Just wanted you to know that they've got cool people so if ur in Northern VA, thats a good dealer to go to for service.

Sorry bro you must not have read the entire post, I walked on the stealership because they went back on their deal and tried to overcharge me 2K. I might try to buy an Audi in Dallas later this month or wait until I get back to VA.

My purchase came very close to same end result, for different reasons. Your experience and mine, gah, it's why I don't buy cars.
Well this story sort of had a bad ending, my brother, Mr. Jumpmaster, ended up getting a BMW 328 primarily based on his experience with this dealer and few other smaller factors. But the biggest reason was the dealership experience. As an Audi owner, I am very disappointed in the way he was treated and how this entire affair went down, which has made me question a few things that happened to me when I was buying my Audi. Audi really needs to fix its customer service issues from the dealership to the service department. An outstanding car in all respects, but I think sometimes the dealers think we need them more than they need us, which is simply not the case.

That's just sad :(
Maybe we can all email this dealer so that he understands his mistake? =)

Yeah, the sad thing is that the BMW is nice, but not nearly as nice as the A3 he wanted and he'll figure that out before too long.
Very sad.

I appreciate all of the support on this website. I did buy a 2007 BMW 328i yesterday, the whole Audi experience was too much to bear. The product is outstanding but not enough overlook how I was treated. I think that AoA needs to overhaul their management philosophy. Even if I had purchased an A3 from another dealer my feelings about the first attempt would ruin any enjoyment that I would have. This is a great forum with great people I wish you all luck and lot of enjoyment on the road.

Understood, but with any automotive brand you can encounter your last experience. I have encountered local BMW dealers that are no better. You have to fault the salesman/manager you originally discussed the order with, who promised a price he didn't input into his computer system, so when it came time to purchase the vehicle he was ready to charge you MSRP. This is not that rare an occurance, some dealerships are run wonderfully, other aren't.
Hope you enjoy your 328i.

Actually I blame the GM; leaders set the climate and establish the culture in their organizations. He was there and allowed this happen. His sales associates, managers, and service personnel are all his responsiblility. If he does not set the standard in customer care and integrity he cannot expect them to. Audi of America was brought in as well with no action...haven't heard back yet. They too have a responsibility to set the standard for the Audi name. Again Audi are phenominal machines, I will just admire from a far. It's a shame that all of you on this forum aren't running Audi...at least in San Antonio. Hope to see you all out there on the road.

The nearest dealership to me (15 miles) gave a miserable negotiation experience. The salesman was fairly helpful beginning with 3-4 different test drives between September and November. He even took me to the parts department to talk about modding and chipping should I have chosen the 2.0. But in the end they asked $100 over MSRP and acted as if I was bull----ting him when I said he was $3,000 above another dealership's quote. Only late in the game did he say they'd match the price if I sold my old car instead of trading in. That was a real slap in the face. If there wasn't the one competing dealership 50 miles away, I would have also ended up with a BMW 328xi from a dealership I've used before and knew I could trust.
