I think I've figured out the real reason all the geezers love the A3 -- they need something with enough cargo space for their Rascal!

Laugh all you want, pups - mine's 72V, with coilovers and Michelin Sport Cups on Neuspeed 19's. 0 - 10 MPH in 1.3 sec, 1.2 G's lateral. I've installed dual cup holders for Ensure and water, and the roll bar is handy for hanging an IV.

30 now... 31 in 3 weeks (ouch)
Hesaputz;
When you go to the track do what I do - if I hear comments about age. I'll get out there for the timed runs and leave me left turn blinker on......

Ugh, at 46, I seem to now be in many top age catagories. I just bought a used 2006 A3 2.0T 6MT. My first mod was to buy a set of relatively cheap 16x7 wheels with 205/55/VR16 snow tires. The all season 17" were too worn to pass inspection, so I'll replace those in the spring. I've been used to Subarus (2002 WRX wagon then a 2005 Legacy GT wagon), so I've become kind of spoiled when it comes to winter traction. Sure wish the 2.0T came in Quattro.
I also just ordered a Grom Audio Ipod Adapter for $70...my local dealer quoted me outrageous pricing to install the OEM adapter. I'm going to give installing it a shot myself, so any how-tos or tips would be welcome. I went through the noob threads already..this is the base stereo that comes with the Premium II package..no CD changer, so the aux port should be available.

Welcome Philly!
After you get through the winter, you'll want to chip the ECU when you get the new performance tires.

Cheers!

You guys are cracking me up (especially the one about the rascal).
33 here and I see the A3 for kids of all ages with good taste and common sense.

Thanks, Chef! I've already been contemplating that and was going to ask for comparisons on whose flash is the best bang for the buck (I'm thinking Neuspeed) and also for feedback on what it does to mileage and other aspects of drivability. The A3 may be a step down in power and traction compared to either Subaru, but it's a step up in every other way, including fun to drive. I've always thought it was one of the best looking cars on the road and I love the way it sounds.

28 almost 29...and my car arrives now on the 14th this Friday. I have bitten all of my fingernails off just waiting, but I've made a few purchases waiting on it. Smoked side marker light kit and rear cargo mat. Once it gets here I need to find a good tuner shop here in ATL that I can build a good relationship with...(CHEF I'm getting the chip...

Congrats!
Yeah, I don't think you could go wrong purchasing a chip for this car. I still get a big grin on my face driving my car and I've had it for almost 2 years. This car is just plain fun, whether it be scooting through traffic, or cruising on the open road. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better daily driver.
Cheers!

Yeah I ordered it on Monday from the directaudiparts site...it was like $112 with shipping I think. I'm on the hunt today for a good shop here in ATL so if anyone has any info I would greatly appreciate!!!

Ottoaudi, you really need to get rid of those orange side markers. It distracts from the whole look. Otherwise, you have one sweet looking ride.
Cheers!
