Airbag Light is on

Is there any way to troubleshoot the airbag system without the ODB I software and tools and without deploying the airbags by accident?

My light is on. I have disconnected the driver side bag already and could not find the control module that is under the center console according to the bentley manual.

Any help would be appreciated.

have you checked the wires under the drivers seat?

I would highly reccomend that you get the code that it is tripping... otherwise you might be in a world of hurt if something happens..

I have not checked any wires under the driver's seat. Didn't know there were any to check. I will re-connect the driver's airbag first and then look. No idea how to get the code without going to Audi or getting the software with the ODB I connector for close to 300 bucks.

My airbag light is on also... I think it's cause I cut wire in dash though ever since I did that it came on :(
