Anybody into NASCAR? (6-27-08 UPDATE)

I''m flying down to talladega superspeedway next week for the race.  I get hot passes to talledega and new hampshire every year.

or something kinda like/close to that, I love that movie and one of my nicknames is Ricky Bobby, but I'm not a huge fan of NASCAR, I love being there in person but would rather see a race where they turn both left and right.


Have fun though, Talladega is supposed to be a cool track to go to.

NHIS is way cooler when the SCCA is there and they let you do track tours on the road course. It's even cooler when you get to ride in the pace car, and take pictures of the cars lining up behind you.

I spent a week camping outside of Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee - those were some pretty good times.  That kind of racing is so much better in person than on TV.

I like watching the DTM and Green Flag racing on speed.  The SCCA stuff is cool also.  Not big on NASCAR or F1

Top Speed I am with you, I don't miss a race I went to Vegas this year. It was so bad ass. Anyway Smoke is my guy and has been for a long time. Talladega is always a good race to watch. And did you see Michael Mcdowell hit the wall at texas? Even if your not a nascr fan watch this video.

yeah they showed that clip 100 that weekend.   I'm only going to 3 races this year.  talledega and both new hampshire races.  At new hampshire I sit on the grass hill on the back strech.

If you've ever been to a Nascar race and done anything besides sat and watched (for example: camped), you would know that it's not all rednecks.

I'd rather go watch the cars & bikes at Laguna Seca.  It's one of my favorite tracks... not just for auto/motorcycle racing, but they also have road bike & mountain bike races out there every April.  I went last year.  Fun times.

Velo - I love Laguna Seca as well the corkscrew is intense I couln't imagine those moto gp guys going down that.
 
Kolbs - Agreed. it's not just rednecks anymore there is every spice of life there. And believe it or not a ton of money. it's big buisness putting on a race. Plus hot a$$ chicks everywhere.

Yeah especially at Talladega. It a week long party in the infield.

I was at the bar about an hour ago having a beer with my special lady friend, and a NASCAR road course race happened to be on one of the TVs. So I kind of watched it every now and then, and holy balls was it awkward-looking. They were all moving soooo slooooowly and taking totally wrong lines through every series of turns and I saw at least five wipeouts, and I'm not kidding, every single one was in a right-hand turn. They kept trying to form a line and draft, and then overtake on the outside coming out of a corner followed by another corner in the same direction.
 
This was the first time I've ever actually seen a NASCAR road course "race", and honestly, the best word I can think of to describe it is pathetic. NASCAR sucks, end of story.

yeah its fun times going to NASCAR races, fair share of rednecks yes, but also a fair share of eye candy  any one who can race in a pack for 43 cars going 175+ within inches of each other and holding specific lines and points on the track has my respect lol
