^^ he wants an R8 not an A8. I would say get the R8.
It depends what you are really looking for tough. both cars will get you noticed. The R8 has been praised as a supercar and has been rated better then the "almighty 911". But the new GranTourismo has been called a wonderful touring car with a shift in Maserati back towards it's grand tourers of old. The new gantourismo is drop dead sexy but there is something about the R8 that is a different kind of sexy for me. Either way I think you will be happy.
But I'm gonna go quattro + mid engine and get the Audi(unless you need back seats)
