everyone knows the feeling of finding some free money after laundry haha... how about after 3 weeks of enjoying every minute in the B5 only to find i have little robot men that wash my headlights!
Me & a couple buddies were sitting in my garage drinkin' beers and they were givin me a hard time about the car not being loaded!
a) i didn't have the third switch next to the fogs...only to find out was an option on the FWD model....1 for Trav :)
b)no headlight washers like the benzos & lexus's....wrong! readup in the manual and whoooosh spraying headlight washers!
anyone else have anything interesting that most of us newbies don't know..... ???

I just learned yesterday that I can open my trunk using the electronic latch on the outside of the car. Before, i was using the keyring or the switch inside the driver's door. Kind of stupid, but I had no idea it was there...

Pop top on the sunroof. I had my car about 2 years before I foud out that you could push on the dial to get it to pop up.

haha I knew the washers were there but didn't bother looking up how they worked, I just assumed they went on on their own since there was no button on the dash. After doing a search I found an old thread about holding the washer stalk for two seconds. I just went outside, tried it and boom wet headlights

Now I got another thing I can brag about lol

I always thought they were broken until I heard a funny noise at night (headlights on) when I washed my windsheild and saw all my friends cracking up.

There's a small sun visor directly in front of the center panel in your roof (in front of the sunroof controls) that folds down to keep sunlight from sneaking between the driver and passenger sun visor. Crafty germans thought of everything!

yea...the headslight washers only work with headlights on....theres a little sun visor thing behind the rearview mirror (windshield side) im not really sure as to how functional it is...but its there.... oh...and i hear that if you put in the right # combination using the radio preset keys you get super boost.....

Things I found on my Audi which are cool:
1st aid kit and ski bag in the rear center arm rest
Interior motion sensors
Headlight washers
SECRET hidden 8 channel EQ in the Symphony radio!
Tiptronic buttons on steering wheel.... I thought they were Scan buttons for the radio that were broken....
heated windshield washer nozles and side view mirrors
Obviously I was a hardcore Audi noob at the time and the salesman didnt know **** about the car to inform me about all the cool little things.

hahah... surgery... Hold "5" while your turn the power on your stereo to get into the EQ, press turn the vol. knob to change the value, and press "pscan" to go to the next channel, press power knob to turn off when your done. I forget what each channel stands for, but if you search on audiworld you can find out.

My one headlight washer nozzle gets stuck up and wont go back down til I push it down :(
I didn't know the washer nozzles were heated either? Thats awesome.
And where is this trunk release? I just hit unlock on the door and then manually push the button to open it?

yep, as long as the car is unlocked, you can push in where the keyhole is for the trunk and it'll open right up...

gotta try the sunroof trick soon as i get in there today, thanks :)
could someone tell me what the little switch is for thats right next to the driver side seat - if you're sitting in the car the switch is half way between the front and rear door on the left side of you. I only saw it at night time cuz the little bastard was all lit up.

Thats the motion sensor button. I believe in 99+ models its always armed so you gotta press it to disarm, could be wrong though. I know in my 98.5 its the other way around.

It is in the 98 too, I put my hand in the car with the doors locked and alarmed, it went off. Same thing went i put my hand through the sunroof. There are two buttons im yet to figure out, on the door pillar by the driver seat theres a strange button, no idea what it does. And in the center handrest theres a weird button too. Kinda seems like its a kill switch, but no idea.

After I took my car home I popped the hood. Stuck my hand under the front to release it an open. Then my dad pointed out there was a little lever in the grill part... i felt kinda dumb.
That storage drawer under the seat was a great find.

Yeah the 98.5 has the same functionality for the motion sensor override button.
I suppose most of you know that turning the key to the unlock position in the door and holding it will drop all the windows, and holding it to the lock position will close them all, as well as the sunroof. This can be VAGed to work the same by holding down the remote buttons.
Trey25
7/18/2006 3:05:16 PM
Yea I use it all the time cuz my friends keep forgeting to role the windows up, then I do it and they're surprised. Eventually I'll get it VAGCOM to program the remote too.

hahahaha I like to watch my friends search for the latch, then I just go over there and show em the obvious lever, they get that dumb look on their faces, very funny...What storage drawer???
MilitantGrunt the first button on the B pillar is the motion sensor, no clue what the other one is, you got a pic?
I also like that I turn my radio on without the key in the ignition, and I can still role the windows up and down without the key.

WINDOWS! .... Sometimes ... I think when it is hot out..... I roll up my drivers side window all the way .... and all by itself it rolls back down about 3 inches. Some times it is next to impssible to get the thing to roll up all the way without coming back down a bit ..... anyone else has this happen?

7/19/2006 1:36:12 PM
