Boost problem??

I recently had a new wastegate actuator put on my B6 because i destroyed the old one. I bought a MBC from ECS Tuning but when I got the actuator installed the boost level would not go past 23psi because of the electronic stock one or whatever. So this morning it was running fine, and then i got in my car after work today and it wouldnt even boost up to 5 psi. I tried turning it off and turning it on 3 times. I think it has to be an electronic issue or a vacuum leak because the boost gauge idles fine and there are no foreign noises coming out from the engine or anywhere else. Does anyone have any insight on what this could be? I hope to god its just an electrical issue because I can install the MBC and get rid of the electronic one. Thoughts anyone???

What exactly is limp mode? Is that an actual term or just a slang way of saying my car is messed up.

it means your cars penis is flacid
jk, its a real term. either clear the codes at autozone, or disconnect the neg terminal and turn on your interior lights to drain the remaining power. let it sit for ~5 min and then reconnect it and it should be out of limp mode. just make sure you have the radio code if you do that
it usually happens when you overboost and run too lean, its a safety feature

what do you mean by running too lean? Sorry I'm new to all these terms.

lean is to little fuel
rich is to much feul
stoich is perfect.
You car hit limp most likely do to overboosting. Just please tell me you didnt get the forge mbc with the 3 lines.

Actually it is the forged manual boost controller but its not even installed because the new wastegate actuator solved the overboost issue on the spot. I had blown the old actuator and it was letting so much air in that it would hit like 26-27psi easy. Now it will peak at about 22-23psi when i hammer the pedal down full throttle. Before, I couldnt floor it without the boost hitting 27psi or so. I would have to let off the throttle immediately. Scary ****. I thought limp mode was more common in automatics? My buddy said it was rare to be in limp mode with a manual. Even if it really is in limp mode, how could it be caused by overboosting? It doesnt seem logical because before, I was hitting higher psi and it never did this. The new actuator makes my car boost less now than before and this limp mode happens because of overboost? Doesnt make sense. I dont know how i could be running lean either. I have a 255LPH fuel pump thats been installed for about 2 years. Just got it checked out about a month ago and it was fine. Im taking it over to my guys today and they are gonna run a diagnostic and check the codes. Hope this is a minor problem!!!
you go into limp mode if you over boost. you overboost with either manual or autos. the car sees too much boost and puts it into limp mode to avoid damage to the motor. what other mods do you have done to your car? are you chipped?

oh man, mods out the ass. ATP GT3071R Kit, Eurospec 2.0L smallblock, 3 inch downpipe, AWE exhaust, Spec stage 3+ clutch, mika fueling kit, walbro fuel pump, bailey DV. Lets just say i have invested a TON of money into this car. Anyway, so I go to my guy today and they checked the codes, and there were like 15 bad codes that popped up from a misfire in one of the cylinders(could be a bad coilpack) to a MAF warning code which is not uncommon from what i hear. Either way, they erased all the codes and my check engine went off!! I hadnt see that off in like two years..haha. It was kinda fun. Nonetheless the problem is not solved. Im going to go ahead and have my MBC installed and bypass the N75 Valve. Any thoughts on if this is a good idea?

u need to dump mika! The sw is a pos and could be part of the problem. You should be running 550 or 630cc min on uni or revo. As for that mbc. The most you can boost is about 18psi. You need to get a UNOs from forge.

haha well that changes everything. yes installing a mbc and bypassing the n75 will be fine. get the unos mbc from forge, its a great mbc. like cincytt said ditch mika (ya i said it) and some new injectors.

ya mika sucks for sure no question but I didnt think I could run revo software with my kit. I'll have to call atp to find out. Couple questions im confused about...why would 18psi be the most I could run? and what is unos? Do you have any links to for these??

another question...why is that Unos MBC so much better than other MBC's?

Whats up man? Youre the guy I talked to at MAG the other day when you picked up your car, right? I meant to tell you that the Forge mbc that ECS sells sucks. I actually told the technician to tell you that it wouldnt work right when he was installing it. You shoulda seen the crowd your car generated at work

. First things first, get rid of the mika and get some REVO and go from there.

the problem with the mbc you have is that it has only a soft spring, thus 18-19psi tops. I personally love turboxs. Never had a problem and can boost to about 40psi.

onepoint whats up? Well I talked to Jason at Mag since hes my hookup basically and they couldnt get the car to boost right after erasing the codes yesterday. He told me to come by tomorrow which i will but I will tell him not to install the mbc from ecs. ya I will get some revo software i found at eurocode to run with my GT3071R. Sucks that its 700 bucks but oh well. Do you think that will solve this problem? I dont even know if its in limp mode. Nothing has worked so far. I guess I'll just have to keep drivin it around at 4 psi until you boys at MAG can figure it out!!!! God this car is a hassel beyond belief!! But its so damn fun to drive when everything is running right!!

shoot, i've got a real problem here. Do I buy a uno mbc and override the N75J valve or do I buy the revo software to take the place of the mika software which i believe is the main problem in this case. I think that unos mbc will work Will surging occur if I bypass the N75? I have like 15 fault codes that are occuring right now. Is this all from Mika software???

if you were to do one thing, get rid of mika. Once you get it running, then worry about how much psi you are running.

fair enough. Mika software it is.
