bought audi today>>

I went for broke and bought a 98 a4 1.8t awd.. paid 9,500 has 69,xxxmiles.. had hid 17inch cheapie rims h and r springs and billstien shocks/struts. it as a few scratches and dings. s4 wheel.. with airbag light on.. clear title.. has a cheapie exaust also.. scorpion logo on tip of it.. never heard of it.. o has a chip also.. not sure which brand.. they could also lie to me and i would not know... has 1 inch rip on driver seat.. and bose system.. hope i made the right decision..



where is the ecu located?

is this a good deal?

also where is the cabin filter located?

came from the world of hondas.. have to sell the 00 accord for money love my hondas.. but feel its time for a change.

cars is slower than a few of my modded hondas.

I hope I wont regret this purchase..

Both the ecu and the filter are under the hood next to the firewall.
Yes, it sounds like a good deal.
Don't worry about the "slowness" - you will be able to mod the car a lot.
Scorpion is a low grade, but functional exhaust.

Don't mess with the airbag light issue. Take it to Audi and let them diagnose the problem.

On a personal note: Don't call your wheels "rims" on this forum - you'll get flamed by some members - or at least me! I can understand your use of the word in the Honda world, but here we call them wheels because that's what they are.

My first advice would be to invest in a VAG-com. With a VAG you can do a lot of your own diagnosing and monitoring of the car. It works on your laptop so you can take it with you and do real world (rolling) diagnoses. It can clear codes and even do some technical/electrical mods.

Hey welcome to the forum.

The ECU is located in a black box next to the firewall on the drivers side.

The cabin filter is located almost in the same spot only on the driver side. You have to remove the rain water chanel first (three big plastic screws I think). It sits underneath there.
