Need a quick answer on this one folks, if possible.  Total newb to Audi, I've just always loved the looks.  I'm looking at a 2001 with 94k miles.  I drove the car, and it was very nice.  The owner drives like 4 hours a day on the highway, so mostly highway miles. They're asking $8750, which seems on the low side, but considering the below issue (and will need to replace timing belt), plan to offer $8300. The only noticeable flaw was that the drivers side power seat doesn't work.  Is this a common problem and if so, what am I looking at for a repair cost?

timing belt is the real issue. most shops charge at least 700 and dealerships charge over a grand. dont know about the power seats cause i dont have them. i wouldn't pay over 8k for it

My normal mechanic (who actually specializes in honda/acura) says he'll do it for ~$600 (timing belt). He's a good mechanic and I trust him. It's an a4 with v6 and quattro awd.  leather. dual power seats. moon roof. bose stereo.  I was looking at the kbb and nadaguides and I'm getting pretty close to trade-in value afaict.  What am I missing wrt the $8k you mention?

So, no ideas on the drivers side power issue?  perhaps it's not a common issue.  That was the one that scared me because I just didn't know what to expect for a repair cost.  It costs $300 bucks just to have the local dealer spit on the thing;-)
