Clutch

Hi I have had the clutch go on my A3 today!  I have left it at work and need to book it in tomorrow.  Please can you tell me how much i should expect to pay for it changing.  It is an a3 1.8se year 1996p

I had the same thing on a 98 A3 1.6 a few years ago.  Audi wanted £600, VW £450 and I eventually got it done at Skoda for around £250-300 I think.  Its all VAG so it was not an issue getting it done there, and I took it to a dealer as warranty was provided.  The clutch they supplied was a refurb, but it had the same warranty as a new one, and cost well over £300 less!
 
You may be able to find it cheaper at a local garage.
