Good question!
I'd like to know myself. Maybe you should take one for the team and go buy it and give it a review for the site?
Thanks in advance!

last I heard, they make noise and maybe a horse or so. Not exactly worth what they want in my opinion.

If a tuner was to utilize the additional air flow with a fuel remap, would that jump the performance any? How much more air/cold air will the Carbonio provide over stock? It was my understanding that the stock air induction system is pretty good from the factory, no?
Money better spent on chip and exhaust first, but what then?
Oh well,
Cheers!

FULL carbon fiber body? bigger turbo? or even a twin turbo? reinforce the chasis? (keep it on the ground) much bigger breaks? but sorry, i just spent 34 grand on my car, and not going to spend much more on it for a while.
unless a miracle happens and i have another 30 grand, i'd bring it to a mechanic and slap on a 420hp V8, keep the stock A3 body (low profile and keep it humble) i was wondering, by deductive reasoning, if an A3 chasis and fit a 2.0 engine, and so does the A4, and if the A4 chasis can fit the RS4's 420hp V8, THEN, shouldn't the V8 fit on the A3's chasis.....with a few mods under the hood?
have you looked underneath the engine yet? it's freakin crazy, the engine and tranny goes perpendicular to the car, not parralel with the car like the other audi models, it's so small under there, they can't fit the tranny the old school way, that **** goes sideways now, it's freakin amazing!!!!

If your going for looks, yes. It does like good, but for power, no. Check out what I did to my A3.

How does the Carbonio sound? I like to stockish look of it, not too concerned about adding power, thats what chipping is for. Would like to get a bit more of the sound from the turbo to the outside, less muffled sounding.

Audinam, I thought the Neuspeed RS rear bar was going to be your "last mod". The intake, from what I have read, is not worth it.
Also, all other Audis, A4 included, have longitudinally-mounted engines, whereas the A3, because it's based on the Golf chassis, have a transverse-mounted engine. So your motor swap is not going to work out.

Just dropped my car off at K&N to do the intake prototyping. Now I'm driving around in a Durango. It just doesn't quite take the corners as well as my A3. LOL
They told me that they will dyno the car stock, then dyno it again with the prototype filter. They will give me copies of the dyno's when I pick the car up again later in the week. It'll be interesting to see what the CAI improvement is in HP. I'll post the results later this week for everyone.
Now all I need is a big turbo & suspension prototype freebie and I'm set.
Cheers!
Sorry I didn't answer your question. Go to the stickies at the top of the A4 forum and you'll have all the information you need on the airbox mod.

Just got back from AEM headquarters in Hawthorne. I now have a AEM cold air intake system for FREEE!!!! The guy from AEM actually posted on this forum.
Anyhow, as for the intake, it definitely makes a difference. I got +15 whp from it - WHP, not just HP. It also makes a nice, deep, aggressive sound when you punch the throttle, and you can clearly hear the turbo spool up at lower rpm's.
I also got the only chrome-finish AEM cold air intake for the A3; they won't make this finish for the production model. It looks nice under the hood.

Congrats Boywonder! Too bad for me that I had to drive to Riverside, Hawthorne would have been real close for me. I hope the K&N has the same gains. I actually left the software on the 91 REVO program, so I hope they dyno the car in that mode. They haven't called me yet to have it changed back to stock. I'm wondering what the change will be with the chipped program. I assume that you're still running stock?

Yeah I'm still stock - only about 2500 miles so far, so I'm still waiting a little longer to get chipped.

DAMN you guys are devils!!!!!!!!!!! now i want a CAI now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hee hee........ if the improvements are that good in HP, i'll seriously look into it............ but i'm guessing the CAI will void the warranty right?
you guys know how much the K&N intake will cost? how about the AEM?
as for now......... i'm still having fun with my sway bar!!!! =)

I don't think any cold air intakes void warranties - they're just basic bolt on aftermarket parts. All they do is suck in colder air, in greater amounts, than the stock intake. Because the engine needs air + fuel + a spark to make an explosion in the combustion chamber, having colder air in greater amounts provides more power.
The only thing you must watch out for with cold air intakes is accidently water ingestion. If you notice, the intake extends down into the bumper area, where it can suck in colder air than where the stock airbox is (right next to the engine). However, being lower towards the ground, near the bumper, creates the risk of the intake sucking in water (VERY VERY BAD), especially in heavy rain and/or standing water. Luckily, this is a rare occurrence, and many intake manufacturers also make bypass valves and other accessories to prevent this.
As far as prices, I remember the AEM cold air intake I had for my Honda was roughly $200. I think the K&N's run for even less.
