I'm considering an Audi A6, I've never owned an Audi before.

I looked at a 2005 A6 last weekend. When I was outside the car, the engine seemed loud to me, especially when the hood was open. I wondered if there might be something wrong with that particular car, the dealer didn't have another one he could show me.

Does anyone out there have a 2005 and can tell me if they've noticed the same thing on their car, or maybe someone else has looked at one and noticed the same thing?

Thanks!!

I just bought a 2005 Audi A6 3.2. This is the 6 cylinder version. No - I did not think the car was particularly loud ... It seemed about the same as my previous Toyota Avalon from the outside and considerably quieter than the Avalon on the inside.

BTW - have been pleased as punch with the car in general. Each time I discover a new aspect or feature I hadn't noticed before I silently praise the engineers. Everything just seems to work so well together, especially the electronics. Was going to purchase a BMW 530i but I truly feel that the A6 2005 is the better car (except for the steering: A6 is good but the BMW is fantastic.)

The 2005 should be reasonably quit.. in fact it much less noise than the 2004 an earlier models... Check the sound when you're in the car, audi has payed lots of attention to make the car as quit as can be inside the car...
The 2005 is fantastic, i already like the 'older' version but the new one is just amazing...
and by the way... the steering and the way the car is handling is much better than the BMW... an i should know because i drive both... on the other hand a 4wd like quattro can't be compared to a rwd...
