Conversion from A4 to S4 grill

i was wondering if anybody had already gone through the process of changing their stock front grill with the S4 front grill. My friend has an S4 and wants to put the rs4 grill in, and if so he said i could have his S4 grill and put it in my car for half the price of buying a brand new one. just wondering if anybody had done it yet and how hard it is to DIY.

I just finished the conversion. I also put the special edition s4 front bumper on as well but the only reason I went through the process is because i was in an accident which destroyed my front end,  so instead of going back to the original bumper I gave the car a nice face lift. All this was done through the body shop, so it could not of been done any easier for me. I love it.

so my friends 2006 S4 front grill will work?!?! thats good news... do you know how hard it would be do to it on your own? or anybody out there for that matter know?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. The S4 grill will not fit your car unless you have the s-line kit. The Stock a4 and s4 grills mount differently. The A4 s-line grill and the s4 grill are the same mount but the standard a4 grill is different.

Besides the fact that your going to have to take off your front bumper to make all these shenanigans happen. Which is a pleasant task in itself. Id hold off on buying that grill until you really know your situation. Do you have s-line, are you willing to get pissed the first time taking off your bumper... its a dirty whore the first run through.

Not to mention, going through all of that trouble only to be fooling people into thinking you've got a lot more under the hood.  Stick with the A4 grill.  That's like putting a "Turbo" badge on the back of a non-turbo Porsche.

no it wasnt that big of a blow actually to find out that it wont work... i was trying to convince me friend that has the S4 that his grill wont work on mine but he was convinced that it would so i really just wanted to see if it was possible. And no i dont have the S-line version so i know it wont fit, and i had a very strong feeling that it wouldnt. thanks for your help guys, and i guess ill have to start looking for some grills that fit a regular A4, do you know any good websites where i can find some?
