Recently had a ride in Germany in a friends new A-6 diesel. Wow. Quiet and fast. Does Audi intend to introduce a diesel in the U.S. anytime soon?

I'm thinking about trading my A4 for a TDI. Diesels are going to be a bigger part of the scene here in the US in the next few years. I'd love to be able to run on cooking oil.

My wife recently purchased a Jetta diesel. Great mileage, quiet, and reasonably quick.

But the A-6 diesel I rode in in Germany was the cat's meeow! It was really quiet and very quick. Didn't even know it was a diesel until I noted it was a new car etc. then the owner told me it was a diesel and stomped the throttle.

Diesels comprise 50% of the autos in Europe for good reason...the cost of fuel.

Typical diesel has approx. 146,000 BTUs per gallon. Gasoline 115,000. That right there tells us that there is more possible efficiency.
