I am looking at either the new 5 door GTI or a 2.0T A3... Other than the lux. items, is there any difference??
I want the 200HP and DSG and I am torn between the 2....

Would have thought the GTI is lighter, therefore quicker.

a3 all the way
for what little it lacks compared to the gti performance wise it makes up for it ten fold with luxury and ride...
oh yea... and dont forget the dsg... :)

at most the GTI is about 100lbs lighter, not really signifigant. One review i read says the GTI rides stiffer, but doesnt handle any better because it's a taller car and has a higher center of gravity. Dunno how true that is, but with the all season perelli's that the A3 comes with, well lets just say they suck.

bah
new tires should be in the budget for any new car, everybody knows that they put them on there for the "general consumer" not enthusiasts like us...
throw some bfgoodrich g-force ta's on there and your set...

Drive them both and youll find the clearcut winner. Its by far the audi. Its at least twice as much fun as the gti. I think the audi looks alot better two, but thats more a matter of opinion. My first impressions after driving both for the first time.
A3(havent driven the s3 yet but the s models are usually more fun to drive.)-I want one. As soon as some high milage ones start to hit the used car market i may trade my a4 for one.
GTI-I like the old one better. It felt like one step backwards from the previous gti.
