I am currently searching for a manual B5 to replace my accord.
I have noticed something about the steering wheels in these cars. There seam to be 3 different kinds of wheels. Is there any reason for that? or do they mean something? I have searched and nothing has come up.  Is there anything that would show up on autotrader ad if the car was a 1.8t sport?
Thanks
Pat

This first one seems to only be in older B5's and I dont like. I have seen it in 2.8 and 1.8 cars.

My 2000 A4 Non Sport model looks like the last wheel pictured..

The 2nd one looks to be one with the sport suspension.

the second one is a 2.8 but I have seen 1.8t with one that looks like the 2nd one maybe a little thinner.
Thanks

I can add/confirm that the second pic is of the 3 spoke steering wheel on models with the sport package option. The last looks like its just the later model version of the first pic. The first and 3rd look like the base package wheels.

Also, I believe both are available on both trim models and that the latter pic posted by NeedanA4B5 is just a post face-lift 99-01 sport wheel.

Thanks! But were there 2.8 with the sport package? or does that wheel mean something else in the 2.8?

also that 4th picture Is from a 01 and the 2nd picture is also from an 01.

I have the 2nd steering wheel in my car, which is a 96 2.8L, but I'm almost positive I don't have sport the sport package. What's included with the sport package?

the second one had two variation pretty much fromt eh time of the euro audi RS2 up to 97 had that wheel but thicker and the top of the airbag was round with a hump, the newer one 98-02 was an the same as the S4 it looked just the same as the old ones except it was thinner and no hump, personally i like the second on ehte best the newer one i believe were available only on the on the ones with sport packages (i may be wrong) but the older cars had tehm as options.

The sports pakcage is available on the 2.8 and includes the steering wheel, a sport suspension, and I believe a different set of rims (-but don\t quote me on the rims part). Pretty sure I may be leaving out some other things....I would imagine that both trim models (ie. 1.8 and 2.8) have a sport package option.

The 2.8 and the 1.8T both came with the sport package, however you dont necissarly have to have the sport package to have the three spoke sport wheel, it was an option that you could get without getting the sport suspension or the sport wheels.

Ldetter is right, i recently wrote off my 00 a4 1.8, and when the adjustor was finding a price for my car, he gave me a complete list of all options for that year.  sport option gives you the 3 spoke steering wheel, sport suspension and 7 spoke sport wheels.  the 4-spoke wheel comes base, but you could also get the sport steering wheel as a factory option aside from the sport package (was $220 cdn factory option).

How do I know if my 99 Avant has the sports suspension or not? It does have the 3-spoke steering wheel...

^^^^^ If yo look like you actually could go off-roading, you have regular suspension, also I believe, but don't take my word for it that the sport springs are yellow.

really if you just want the steering wheel just buy the car you like and find a 3 spoke steering wheel and airbag and just swap it over. they're interchangable.
