Just did a homemade wire mesh grill today. bought some gutter gaurds from Home Depot, cut em to fit the grill. Cut away everything in teh grill and sanded the nubs of teh remaining material down. then i clipped the mesh to the grill. Just need to but the finishing coats of black on tomorrow. Sounds easier than it was, took me about 4 hours, but I didn't have a dremmel tool which would have saved me a lot of time. Looks pretty classy with the bare metal, but should look badass with black. I left the chrome trim untouched and see whether it looks good or not. The right side popped out a little when i shut the hood so I just need one or two mroe clips and I should be set. I'll take pics of it as black and bare metal.

that sounds pretty sweet, i would like to see pics though on finished product.  I want an RS4 grille for my car, but paying other bills more important.

The pics of bare metal version are mediocre because its at night. Paint is drying so I'll take the pics of the black version when its dry.

The only mesh I found at Home depot was had holes smaller than i wanted, but it still turned out well.

I went to AW, and checked out the pics, I think it looks pretty cool, especially for DIY, nicely done.
