driver window problem

I drove to the bank and my windows were working fine. I came back out and rolled down the driver window and it made a weird, nasty sound. it was struggling to go down. Now its getting stuck when it's down. And it'll come up sometimes. It makes a nasty sound and struggles. I don't know what happened. I just bought the car about two months ago. Any suggestion would be helpful.

possibly pull the door panel and see if everything lining up?!

the thing is..im new to audi. so im not familiar with taking things apart haha. it is weird. it was working just fine. then i came out and it goes crazy.

i searched around on the forum, and it sounds like the window guide. I couldn't find it on ECS. It only has it for A6. Does anyone know where i can find one for a '04 A4?

Had the same problem...go to the DYI on how to remove door panel...very easy, just remember that the upper trip piece slides toward the inside to release, find and remove all fasteners in order to lift up the top molding @ glass (some are difficult to see); don't tear the liner; or break the electric connecters- the front door has a "flip" release so look carefully - don't try pulling apart.
 
The window works by a drive cable connected to a plastic guide attached to the window rail.  The cable rarely breaks, however, the plastic guide pins do which allow the cable to jump out of its track.  I did not replace the inside plastic, instead, I used epoxy to glue back the broken plastic and also used a piece of wire as a "clamp" where the plastic had broken.  I did this by drilling two small holes, and creating a "ring" at the weak point.  Sounds like alot of work, however, took me less than one hour.  I know that my repair is far stronger than the original piece...probably will fail again in another area in the future as the plastic may be fatigued.

can you put a link to the section on removing the door panels? My window switches are crapping out on my A4 and I need to change them. I tried to remove the panel but got scared that I would start breaking parts.

my passenger side window was doing the same, i took my door apart multiple times and its quite easy and straightforware. my problem turned out to be that the cable popped off its track and ruined the white spindle where it spools onto and kinked itself. i replace the cables with some that i made myself but the spindle is quite damaged so the cables dont like to spool nicely now. its a 100$ part to fix to get the entire window regulator.

ok so i decided to replace the whole front left window regulator. Does anyone know how to replace it? If its hard, i will probably take it to a shop.
