Sorry (dupicate post)Newbie. I just read the thread abt CEL's and was advised to post the codes in the subject. Thnx
All,
Happy Thursday!
Help!
I'm experiencing the following with my 2002 Audi A4 3.0 82000 miles:
*Check engine light ON- flashes (stays still @ times)
*Hood light- blinks as though the hood is not closed; however it is. (I think this is a broken sensor?)
*Service Light ON- abt a week now
I'm taking the Audi to the dealership 1st thing in the morning. I requested a service which I was quoted $450 and the service manager suggested to get a timing belt job and oil change instead.....ONLY $1900. The service manager advised that he has seen too many times were the timing belt breaks before the owner manuals suggested replace. He also suggested that I get a service @ 90,000 instead. He wants to do prevented maintenance I guess? Also I took my Audi to Auto Zone today and my check engine codes read as follows:
P0741, P0302, P0303, P0301, P0300, P0015, P0021, P0421 & P0431. Will someone please explain what this means to me? Are these costly repairs. Could a GOOD mechanic easily work on Audi's are should I always have Audi certified technicians under the hood (dealership)?
Thanks in Advance,

P0741 - Powertrain: Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance/Stuck Off.
a P0013 code trigger the check engine light? This code will trigger the check engine light under the following condition:
The comprehensive component monitor, referred to as the CCM, monitors the Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) circuit to the computer for high and low voltages. If the voltage falls below a set limit for a specific amount of time during this test, the check engine light will coPossible
Possible Causes: Open or short in the VCT circuit
Open in the Vehicle Power circuit
Open or short in the VCT solenoid valve itself
Damaged computer (PCM)me on and set this trouble code.
http://forums.audiworld.com/s4b6/msgs/426643.phtml A code P0421 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
- The catalytic converter is no longer functioning properly
- An oxygen sensor is not reading (functioning) prosparkplug
- A sparkplug is fouled up.
e following has happened:
- The catalytic converter is no longer functioning properly
- An oxygen sensor is not reading (functioning) properly
- There is an exhaust[link=http://www.obd-codes.com/p0431#][/link] leak.
Diagnostic trouble code p0031 ho2s heater control circuit low bank 1 sensor 1.
p0300/2/3 are spark plug/coil related and all sounds like P0013 could be the cause of all the other codes which means the other things are probably ok and are codes stored because ok P0013.
to find answers on dault codes simply type it in your google search engine

no problem ( the more codes means that one thing is causing the problem ) in this case I would put it down to cam timing as this would cause all the other issues, cam sensor/knock sensor just a quick guess

That sucks to have to pay for new cats. For those who don't know, the federal emissions warranty is up to 80k. This covers the whole emissions system and the ECU. At least your car is back up and running w/o any problems.

Would that mean if my cats on my 2003 3.0 went... (i have 48K miles) it would have to be covered by Audi?
