All you need is HID bulbs + ballasts.  There are many different palces you can buy hid upgrade from... Price can begin like from $40 to $500.  Stock hid lights or and Phillips HID would cost a lot, but they are a good quality ones. I bought mine from vvme.com for like $100 shipped, now i tihnk it is close to $70 shipped, i like them a lot.

I dont know about others (you can search) I bought mine from vvme.com
You need H7 bulbs and you choose what color you want... I think 6000K is the most popular, and 8000K.

vvme is also on Ebay, if i'm not mistaken their name there is FlashPlus, and i think it is like $10 cheaper on Ebay.

If you dont want to go the HID route, I just put in the PIAA Xtreme white bulbs last week and I really like them (as compared to stock halogens).  Nice white beam with a slight hint of blue...but not ricer blue!!!
Looks very tasteful and lights the road much better than stock bulbs.

I am planning to get VVME which ones would u recommend the 6000 or 8000K i kinda like the 8000 and how hard is it to install or set up and the kit is like $40 so i dunno if that includes it all

You need to buy a Conversion Kit which includes 2 bulbs and 2 ballasts.
It is up to you which one you like 6k or 8k... They say that more K's you go, lees light output you get, but still i think the biggest one 12000K is brighter then the halogen. My buddy got 8000K on headlights and 8000K on fog lights, that is Bright!!! Looks like brighter thham my 6000K, but his looks more blueish on a road.
I dont know wher you from, but if i'm not wrong, in some States 8000K is Illegal.

The Conversion Kit supplies everything you need for a DIY. All you have to do is choose the housing (H7) and the bulb temperature that you want.

I order from VVME and I've noticed that most people on the forum have recommended them. I have no complaints. I think a lot of brands mark their kits up based on the brand name recognition they are attempting to convey.

I'm planning on adding some HID fogs in the future - you can get them for 35 - 40 bucks at visionbulbs.com.

Does anyone have any recommendations for HID fogs or any other sites that offer a more competitive price?

Conversion kit has evreything you need.

Hailjericho, you can buy them from VVME of from any other company who sells HID kits, you will need an H11 Bulbs. Some people have problems after the installation though, cause they get False Codes.

Nick_UltraSport It depends if you've done some kind of fimiliar stuff before, you can find a lot instrucstions online.

Porsche2AudiHappy If i'm not mistaken you can get Bixenon kit, but i'm not sure if that fits every stock a4's headlights. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=140283&highlight=bixenon+hid

Hi-

N00b here, just buying my car this week.

Are all the A4s H7 bulbs, or are they different depending on the year? I've got a 2003 B6 A4 1.8T Quattro.

Thanks.

Monarch - your housing is an H7 unit.

Audiprotien - Does that mean that I would have to order ballasts for the fogs as well? If so, have you done this or do you just use your stock fogs? I think it kind of looks tacky if you have the HIDs in the headlights and then stock yellow for fogs..

To all of you concerned with the installation - it is not a difficult process if you are somewhat compitent with car installations. It's mostly plug and play - the two most time consuming parts of the procedure are:
                 1) Drilling a hole in the back of the headlight column to run your wires through
                 2) Mounting the ballasts

Other than that - it's a piece of cake and should take you less than an hour or so!
