Gas Fumes Coming from Heater Vents

I have a 98' A8 which has recently begun blowing gas fumes through the heater vents when it is cold outside. This is the first Winter I've owned the car and it spent most of its life in the South. I believe there is another 97' A8 owner who is having the same problem. Does anyone reading this section know why this would be happening? Just to add, there is no gas leak (visible on the ground under the car anyway) and the smell is contained to the inside of the vehicle. It also appears to be more prevolant at idle and low speeds then once the engine is hot and at highway speed.

Any help would be appreciated, before I pay an Audi dealer big bucks to find and fix the problem.
Thanks

take it to an independant euro mechanic, and have them fix it, it could be that your running to rich, or something else

Thanks, but I found the problem. Its a leak right at the connector where the rubber fuel hose goes into the engine. Its leaking from there when cold, and then expands when warm. I'm going to get me some JB Weld and epoxy it over!
