I need Help!!!  I have a 2003 Audi A4 1.8 T.  It has  45000 miles.  When I start the car in the morning it cranks right up everytime (I park in the garage overnight and the car is cool).  If I turn the car off and it sits for an hour or two,  when I try to start the car it cranks and goes dead unless I press the gas pedal.  It has done this off and on of this for a while but has gotten significantlly worse over the last year.  I have taken the car to my crappy Audi dealership (the only close one) several times and they say it has no codes and they can't recreate the problem.  I can now recreate it everytime.  So far I have replaced the CTS Coolant temp sensor.  I have also noted a check valve that looks really bad located near the air intake (I'm not sure this could cause this problem).   Any help or direction would great.

Same thing happens to me man.  I am taking mine into the dealership.  Hopefully it's like the ECT or something I don't have to pay for.  I need to check the spark plugs.

I hope you have better luck with your dealership.  Let me know if they get yours fixed.  It sucks!!!

I have the exact same problem. It just happened to me three times within the last two days. It's only when the engine is warm. I will have it looked at when I bring it in for my 60K service soon. I really hope it's just the coolant temp sensor...

Orange,

I replaced all the spark plugs last night and that has seemed to cure the problem. I will let you know if that changes.

muckdawg24 If that worked for you I might give that a try.  How many miles on your A4?

What type of plugs did you use.  I was thinking of trying copper NGK - BKR6E

Has anyone ever tried replacing the battery? I noticed that my battery isn't holding as much charge as it should be and I think this is the original battery. Would that be causing the problem when the engine is warm?

wouldnt the battery have "more" charge if it was warm?! compared to it being cold.?

it wouldnt hurt to scan for codes. even if you have no CEL your ecu still keeps tabs on your car.
sounds like the CTS, or a relay issue

I replaced my battery as it died.  This did not change the warm start issue.

I didn't think about that. I need to look it up in the cd manual.

Well my problem came back and then I took into the dealership and they said dirty throttle body.  They cleaned it and it doesn''t seem to be happening.

I think the problem with mine was the battery. I haven''t seen the issue as of yet after replacing the battery.
