Sorry, but, as far as I know, it DOES unscrew.

http://www.fourtitude.com/resources/downloads/instructions/b6_Shifter_091203_1a1.pdf on that link if u scroll down to page 4 of 20 towards the bottom it says To remove the shift knob you must cut the clamp holding the shift knob we have included? is this true is theree something i need to cut or should i just stop being a pu$$y and unscrew it harder? i'm just afraid it'll completly break off?

You're right. Sorry, it is different than the B5.

I CAN see what they are talking about, though.
Under the boot, at the top of the shaft, there is a small hose clamp. It needs to be snipped with cutters.
Can you see it in the photo?

if i do snip it will i be able to put the original shift knob back on or somehow find a place to buy a replacement hose clamp?

You should have a replacement clamp with your SS kit. Do you have a kit or are you just trying to get the knob off on your own? If you don't, then yes, you will need to buy a new clamp. Audi uses one-time clamps. They have to be cut off. A replacement hose clamp will obviously have the screw to tighten it down or to loosen it.
