Well said NAHO. I Hav had more decent experiances with police than not. Even when I was arrested (shocker, it was my fault) the arresting officer asked me questions about my jeep and was actually quite friendly. And back in the day one cop gave a buddy and me ride a few miles up the road when it was raining like a SoB. Any negative encounter you have with an officer is more than likely your own damn fault. My brother in law works for DPD and he works the overnight shift in the worst area of town, does he have to? No, he has a 2y.o. son at home and could work a regular (safer) shift, but he enjoys what he does and feels he makes a differance doing so. To say all cops are pigs is ignorant, if you don't break the law you don't need to worry about ever having a negative experiance with them.

Actually I'm one of the most easy going officer's on my department. I don't like to bother with this thread becaused it's based on rash generalizations and poor judgement calls. It actually makes me a bit sad that so many of you "hate" cops. I am quite tame with people on this forum and do my best to keep my composure even in threads such as this one. This thread is a prime reason why I created my main thread here where you can ask general police questions and I do my best to answer to help you understand why departments treat matters in the ways that they do. I know there are officers out there who are totally out of line, I have seen them, heard of them, and worked beside them. Perhaps some of you have encountered more than one officer who treated you poorly, but to say you hate all officers because of them and think they should die is one of the most immature statements I have read on this forum. Most of us, police, are here to help you; yes even you folk who tell us you think we should die etc.
So that's fine you can sit there and type that you think I am these negative things, off what comments I have made that you are getting this feeling I am unsure, but I assure you my first sentence remains quite true. Just remember it's attitudes like those that are being displayed here by some that will guarantee your encounter with police will be negative because you are coming into the encounter with a negative attitude. Hopefully you will never need our services, but if you do I pray that it will be a positive experience. Personally I feel that a good portion of this is that you have a chance to talk negatively directly to an officer while behind a computer screen, I ask myself how secure a person must be if this how they validate themselves. If anyone would like to have a conversation with valid points I am always open to conversation, but when I read arguments such as: Crime still exists so what good are police, why bother? People slam police officers saying we don't do enough. Ask yourself this, "What have I personally done to prevent crime?". Most officers devote our lives to stopping crime, if you think we do it for the pay you are sadly mistaken. It is easy to complain on crime rates when you have no concept of what officer's jobs entail when placing criminals into our awful legal systems. Policing by far is one of the most hated professions when most of the population has only a slight idea of what the job really entails. The things most officers will have to endure in their professions are burdens I wouldn't want to place on more than half the criminals I have arrested.
In essence, please don't be so quick to stereotype an officer based on your experiences with a few, what you saw on tv, internet, etc. I know most of the people who already commented negatively here won't take anything away from this post. I have confidence in the fact that many on this forum are decent intelligent people and will understand where I am coming from with this post, I know this because I don't focus on threads like this where the negative posters come out of the woodwork.
Didn't ever mention that in one of my post, nore' have I ever wished death on a police officer in any situation. I wish all woman-officers over the age of 35 would quit though, old hags make situations worse.
I treat all officers in real life with respect, and cooperate with them. I'm not an idiot, and I'm not here to make there job easier. I broke the law, I broke the law.. I'm just saying I broke a law thats broken 6 million times a day (Not even speeding) Wrong left hand turn is my only ticket, cop chilling in the dark with his head lights off behind a building. Was 12 pm, no median, free way was right there, not one car in sight. Maybe that cop should go find some real crime.
I have a older cousin who is on the force. But she actually works in LA and deals with stuff you probably never will, crime actually exists there (Unlike here, where its far and few, and mainly just traffic violations).. she actually has a real chance of dying every week. I still can't believe they let a woman officer work there, but thats how it is...
Idk its whatever, I think a lot of cops.. just do it because they're dicks and can't find a better job especially the way out of shape ones who give tickets all day. Please.

I used to skate when I was in highschool and I got hassled by the cops. Not like this. I never got arrested, beat up or ticketed. When I was younger I thought F cops blah blah blah. Not all of them are like that though. I dont think skateboarding is a crime but now that I am a little older and I have a family I hate these disrespectful A-hole kids. I think its the officers responsibility to show restraint but I doubt that I would have that much control. I would have smashed these kids. I hate when kids are disrespectful because they know that you leagally cant do anything to harm them. I won't hesitate to beat the crap out of a highschool kid that desrves it. I have no doubt in my mind that if their skateboard hit my car, wife or son. I would snap it in half or just punch them in the face and take it for myself. I still kick around a board every once in a while but I'm not a punk as about it. Just be aware that you're not the only person out there and show some effin respect! I have punched kids who (in my mind) deserved it. Not because I have something to prove but I feel like I am doing a public service. That dumb ass kid hopefully learned a lesson and will think twice next time he effs with someone who he thinks the LAW is protecting him from. Kids suck and I hope that mine doesnt end up being an Ahole!
I think I'm going to go skateboarding after work today.

It is crazy and scary that your sister has to work in that area but she chose too and she probably likes it. My sister works for the fire department. She works right in the heart of Down Town LA and she loves it. She sees a lot of action but again . . . thats where she wants to be. When she was in an Bernadino she was licenced to have a weapon on her at work because the area was so bad. Just because your sister is a female doesnt mean she shouldnt be able to work in an area. If she made it through the academy she can probably handle herself.
Cops are generally hated on by the public until something bad happens to them and they need a cop. It sucks but thats the job. Protect and serve even when the people you're potecting have no respect. THe officers in the video were out of line and needed to show more restraint. Not all cops are like that. I have met some pretty cool cops when I used to skate. I met a lot of cool cops when I was in court for my speeding ticket. True some are dicks on power trips, but there are a ton of people in other life positions that are the same. The bottom line is if you are doing somthing you're not supposed to (skateboarding when posted not to or SPEEDING) dont hate on the cops for busting you. Its their job to fallow and enforce the rules which are meant for protecting people and property.

I think its hard to tell a police officer how you feel when he thinks of himself as a god. It has nothing to do with how secure I am of myslef. We both know if I called you a pig to your face you you wouldnt give me a lecture about how insecure I am. You would most likely throw me to the ground becuse you think you're better than me. Right, but how many officers actually encounter real crime? Or actually go look for it, and look to stop it. Doesn't seem like many do, I can tell you exactly where a cop will be sitting on friday/saturday nights. For hours they will sit there, are they really stopping crime? No, they might stop a drunk driver and potentially save a life but other wise get the f*ck out.
Its my cousin,
read. Yeah, I'm not doubting she can't handle herself. Just saying and yeah San Bernadino is bad.
I have met pretty cool cops to, and sat down with them and had conversations with them. Used to have a regular who worked on the Indian Rez, he worked a lot.. had some cool stories and good info. Yeah I understand the basics buddy, I treat officers with respect when I get pulled over. Which is why I have one ticket and have been pulled over a couple of times. I don't dissrespect, but I've only met a couple cool cops, and many idiotic ones. Thank god when I had to deal with two cops the man officer was awesome, and the woman was just "YACK YACK YACK" he even came up to my window and apologized for her idiotic-ness, and my cousin even mocked her a little. She needed to stfu.
But I really don't care how you view me, i could go on a rant like you about how good ones exist and cops are great. And that might be true, but so is what i'm saying... good to see you feel superior because you are playing on the 'justice' side of the fence.

Perfect example! Priests . . . are they all bad and cause a bunch of them touch little boys and we should hate them? Are they all good and trying to "SAVE" people? Or are they all just trying to run a business.
Marines: Are they all puppy throwing, ego inflated, dong bags who have no idea what they wanna do with their life and think it would be cool to shoot someone? Are they all american heros out protecting our freedoms?
I have my own belifes and I'm not gonna push them on anyone but you cant be serious, you sound like you are, about what you are saying. I know Marines that are dicks and have no respect cause they think they are the sht and they arent. I know Marine's that are laid back and dont fall into the steriotype. Not dicks, not heros. Not all cops are bad. Not all cops are good. Not all cops are your sister . . some are your cousin. Not all Audi drivers are as superior . . . . as me. Some Audi drivers, such as yourself, must be superior because they are not on the side of justice. Not all "justice" is just! This thread is gay! Those cops are gay (look at the shorts)! Should I judge you from this thread or your other funny posts? Do you care? Do I care?
Steriotypicaly speaking (is that a word?) cops are dicks who abuse their power and probably got picked on or were very insecure in highschool. Bike cops are robots who just write tickets and let hot chicks go if they can get their ohone number. They all drink and hate black people . . . even if they are black. The hispanic ones all hae a cousin named Chuy or Spider and they look the other way when they deal drugs to kids.
Bottom line is they arent ALL like that. Steriotypes are there for a reason though and you are entitled to your opinion about certain groups of people (but you know that already).

I think you have proven that you are in fact, not stable in the head. Your arguments are based of subjectivity and prejudice. If you wrote up a paper in college and tried to hand it in using that kind of logic without any realy proof, you'd have it handed back to you.
Chandler is a soft place. You live there. You have no idea what places like LA and MD and Miami and Chicago or any dangerous place are like. You have a limited view of the world because you lack experience. Plain and simple. I don't think you're dumb, but you are ignorant for sure. You wilfully choose not to educate yourself on the world, and that restricts your knowledge of it.
Meanwhile, my family and friends are all from major cities like Baltimore, D.C, LA, Chicago, and New York. Real crimes happen EVERYWHERE, and your bullsh*t argument about people leading lives which put them in harms way and gang violence and all that is purely your own opinion and not based off of any facts whatsoever.
I'm personally glad to have law enforcement around most of the time. Sure some may be assholes, but I'm a smart ass as well, so if I get hassled, it was probably my own fault 90% of the time.
My advice to you is to grow up, move out, maybe go live in New York for a while, and see what real life is like when the large police force your complaining about is actually mandatory.

I had heard about this thread from the hubby and at first thought avoiding it would be the better thing to do but obviously I failed at that. This thread both irritates me and saddens me & I have a lot of responses to things people have said but those things are "opinions" and being that they are "my opinions" and people are going to come back with horrible arguments that have no facts to back them up I will leave my comments about certain other posts out.
My only word of advice to some people is try putting yourself in someone elses shoes. Everyone always thinks the grass is greener and life is easier somewhere else but truth be told its usually not. They are assholes in EVERY profession and its not the profession that makes the person an asshole, the person makes a choice to do so. And furthermore just because someone is an asshole to you doesn't mean coming back at them with the same attitude makes you not one because they did it first. Do yourself a favor and attempt to be different then the general population, you'd be surprised how taken a back an asshole cop can be if you act respectful and even sometimes grateful that they put their life on the line every day they go to work.
And lastly just because a cop lives in a surburban area and a low crime area doesn't mean they deserve any less respectful then a cop who works in Downtown LA. When you join the force you are agreeing to basically sign your life away to protect people you don't even know. I can't say I think many people on here would throw themselves in front of a bullet for someone they don't know the way a cop does....
