Today as I started my car as usual, the coolant light came on. I then looked under the hood and found that the fluid level was below the min. mark. So I went to work as always and I went to a local store to get antifreeze. I know that the car takes some kind of special fluid but did not have the time to go all the way up to the dealership so i bought this Prestone All makes and models, any color antifreeze. Now, I should have looked here before i did it and now hoping i did not screw the pooch. Please advise.
Thanks!!!!!

yikes, you can't mix coolants. It will usually turn into a brown sludge type liquid. You are gonna need to have it flushed and filled with Pink Pentosin G12 coolant.

Well those guys rarely deal with Audi or BMW's which require fancy expensive coolant. Make sure they figure out why you were low on coolant too, it's not normal to just evaporate.

What model and year are ya drivin? I know that my 01 TT they say that the coolant is supposed to last the life of the car, and I shouldnt change it. Unless you through a belt and it drains into your oil pan.

Sorry still bitter about that one.
