are stock A4's naturally fast from the factory -- like throw you back in your seat fast around 3-4k rpm? because i recently bought a 98.5 1.8 manual and its faster than all other A4's I've driven (2.8s or 1.8s) It's even faster than my dad's 02' Maxima (255hp)
Is it possible the previous owner chipped it and just didn't tell me or something? this car has 178k miles btw

definitely. if you weren't chipped you could hardly take minivans
time to open up the ecu and find out which one you got

I don't belive mine is chipped, and I held my own with an Acura RSX a while back. I don't think they are that slow. And mine is a Tip. I didn't win, but he didn't blow my doors off.

150hp in a 3500lb car isn't going anywhere fast. if you can beat a honda your chipped or you have an 01 and honda boy didn't know how to drive

see what it revs up to if it goes to 7100 and starts pinging your chiped, if it goes to around 6700 its the stock rev limiter and your not, or see if you can pass the 130mph mark

yeah. those are both great ideas

much better than getting a boost gauge

Lol, thats what i thought to myself...
But anyways.. I wouldnt be too happy to find out that the 178k a4 I just got is chipped because that means he probably beat on it + the higher boost..

why dont you buy a boostgauge and findout if you are chipped or not?

I felt that my car was pretty quick, stock ('01), but a chip really gives that throw-you-back feeling at 3k, verse tilting your head.
Didn't notice that the rev limiter is changed with a chip, but there's nothing wrong with free-revving a warm motor. If it passes 6700, then you know!

..Just see what the Rev limiter is..It wont hurt if your not chipped and you hit it, just make sure you let off teh gas real fast.

01's are quicker, you guys have 11psi out of a k03s, compared to pre-01 which has 8psi out of a k03.

Isn't it 8.7 psi for 01, my buddy has a 02 GLS and its like 11.6 or w/e and I can really hear his turbo, but barely mine.

you should be boosting the same as him, 11.6psi or .8 bar. don't know why that info says .6 bar

We'll see if I got a boost leak or not, boost gauge installed just waiting for my ecu to get back.
