If I buy a chip for my Audi how much will it improve the Horsepower, and will I have to buy anything else for it so it won't ruin my engine? I seen one for about 550 dollars on-line is that a good price? I have a 2007 Audi A4 S-Line 2.0T Front trax ( not QUATRO)

lol why'd you post this here? but ya it is defintely worth the money. best bang for buck mod you can do. period. and no it wont hurt your engine AT ALL.

and ya 550 is a good price. REVO or APR is the chip you want. either one of those and u'll be good to go.

it will however void your warranty.

Maybe Ill wait and see how it feels when I get back. Right now Im visiting my girl in TN. Thanx, I didn't know it would void the warranty.

Can't you just swap ecu's if you need to hit the stealership?

post this in the a4 section next time okie :)

and what you can do is put a few programs no the ecu, like vallet,stock,93.. run the 93 as a daily thing and then when you want to go to the dealership just turn on the stock program and the car goes back to stock. they have no way of knowing.

good luck

cant imagine that changing the chip in the r8 would do anything!!
sounds to me like they have squeezed as much outta that engine as possible...
guess we will all find out when the cars are out and we get to play with them!

Yes a chip will give you noticeable power gains, for the money you can't get anything better.

You should've posted this on the A4 section. Also there have been a lot of threads about this and you can search for some info
I have a 2006 A4 2.0T, I got the chip flashed with APR 91/stock programs. The difference is night and day, it's very well worth the money. As for the warranty, it will not void all of it.

You can probably find someone selling their chipped ECU for that price.

If you chip your car and there is an SVM or recall or TSB that calls for an ECU update it has a high possibilty of erasing your performance ecu upgrade. So you could basicly throw 500$ away.... Its up to you

Performance boost is unquestionable. What is however are: gas mileage degradation and wear & tear.

I read all the FAQ etc, but still haven't got an answer to these questions:
  • Roughly by how much does the mpg go down with APR Stage I upgrade?
  • With ECU upgrade, your turbo, engine, and things like O2 sensor will get pushed harder. How long before car starts falling apart is my question?

for a turbo car chip is awesome, otherwise save your money

go back to the place you got chipped and they'll re-chip it for free

gas mileage actually improves with a chip under the same driving conditions. problem is when people get a chip they drive it harder and waste more gas. your car will not fall apart with a chip. one of the guys in the a4 section has 190k on the clock and has been chipped since 90k and mine's been chipped since 1 mile and im at 105k now

AND WHY IS THIS IN THIS SECTION!?!?!?!?

After feeling like a troll and asking pre-answered questions over and over again, I started asking the fuel economy and wear and tear questions myself. Could we add those answers to a sticky on chips? I read a few other threads on chips, and I havent seen those answers.

So bottom line: Fuel economy stays the same and wear and tear is (arguably?) null.

Which raises my next question, why wouldnt they come from the factory tuned that way (not arguing, just wondering). As a manufacturer, if the fuel economy stays relatively the same and wear and tear is null, and you get to add a "Performance Tuned" bullet point to your brochure, what harm is done?

Sorry to bump an old thread but I felt like asking ;)

because this is a 4 cylinder car, and they like making you pay for it.. and its a AFTERMARKET chip. if u want more power, get a bigger engine you mok.
