So Leifer and I installed his intercooler yesterdayand I snapped some pictures during the install. Just thought I would share them. I don't have any of the finished project (because it was late, cold, dark, and we were tired. LOL) Maybe Leifer can add some pictures of the finished project. Enjoy!

looks good, my .02, would have put the power steering cooler below the intercooler.
drill a hole in the middle of the bracket (green in pic) and put the bolt (red in pic) to hold it in place.

That cooler (U shaped one) is the power steering cooler. It works well up there. It gets cold air the whole time and as long as the clamps on the bottom of it are tight it won't leak or anything like that.

Yeah Leifer, where are the finished pics????

why are there couplers here

and here (the one on the left)

if you used the outlet hose and tb hose you should just run the piping right into them, not use a coupler.

God I wish I had money for an IC kit right now.

Brian, that first pic = a 90* bends sits in there, but it's not in the pic. And that second one has a coupler because we ran a 90* to a straightpipe which we cut, because the 90* bend wasn't long enough to hit the turbo outlet.

Finished pics of it go up tomorrow, I've just been really busy trying to tidy it up.

k then the hotside makes sense but i still dont get the coldside. was the piping too large to run into the tb hose? and how are you holding that coupler onto the tb hose, a pipe inside?
ThePaintballGuy

Yeah the TB hose is 2.25 and he is running 2.5 pipe there so it wouldn't fit in the hole ("Thats what she said!" Sorry I just watched The Office LOL) so we cut a piece of 2.225 and put it inside the TB hose to support the hose and then put a coupler on it and it holds really well now.

Brian, the piping wasn't correct for us to run that 2.5" 90* bend directly to the TB inlet, and so we had to optimize a little bit. I'm going today (if I fix this ****ing oil problem) to the muffler shop and having them custom fabricate me a 2.5" alum. piece that is welded onto the alum. piping that attaches to that hose.

Did you get the map on yet?

Yeah we JB welded it on and it seemed to be staying really well! LOL

He was going to but all the shops were closed on Sat. So we jb welded it. I think he is planning on welding it on anyways down the road.

Steal flange and aluminum piping dont go together.
Leifer

Of course not. The JB welding will hold up fine. We did it properly too; that **** is never coming off.

BTW nate, thanks a lot for your help. It made sense when I looked at it and saw what we had to do.

Brian, look at that pipe. It's too short to get all up in the TB inlet.

I knew you would get it when you saw it.  Plus Josh would of smacked you until you got it also

JB weld is more than strong enough to hold it, just not pretty to look at

You should see the front bumper where my dad slaughtered the license plate carrier, the JB weld is pornstar-hot compared to those ****ty holes.

BTW, kinda off-topic on another thread... if I'm getting a low oil pressure light, that couldn't be a factor of me deleting my SAI, could it?

Sai and oil pressure have nothing in common.  Do some seafoam and see what happens.

Okay. I didn't hear any knocking (I have a thread posted a little below this one) but I guess there's no way around it...

What's weird is, I ran rich for a couple of minutes and I had a rough idle, but as soon as we temporarily fixed my outlet hose, I drove home just fine (I was going 15mph in a 35 to avoid ANY boost) and the next day I fixed it by buffing the outlet hose out with a 1.75" steel straightpipe, then clamping it down very tightly. I drove it around the block, tried boosting, and it worked just fine. No light, no problems. About 15 minutes later, I drive it to work (not hard at all, I was not even boosting at all) and park. Couple hours later, I repark my car to the front of the store, and I get that light. No knocking though.

On top of doing the intercooler, I also got new tail lights, courtesy of a straight-swap from Josh!

Dun dun dun... think of it as a striptease!

I forgot some of the top clips, but I'm going to shave those off when I get a chance to.

Okay so it's definitely not the cleanest; nor is it photoshoot quality, but I didn't have the right angles to work with. I just figured I should stop teasing you guys. I'm going to get a euro plate to cover those ugly holes, and I'm going to saw off the top clips of the bumper, then I'll take some photoshoot quality pics.

LOL... Hey for doing it in a day it turned out pretty good! Are you happy with the results? And can you feel a difference power wise?
