I think test driving each will answer your questions as to advantages.  They are different cars. The Rex is a sports car first, sedan second.  the A4 is a luxury sedan first, sport sedan second.

WRX pros: Fast, cheap, fast and cheap.

        Cons: dime a dozen, bugeye look (imo is ugly), plastic interior

A4 pros: All around class, finely appointed interior, superior ride, better AWD system, chics dig em it makes people think ur rich ( whether u are or not)

    cons: expensive maintenance, prob not as reliable as the sube

if u want a subie get a turbo impreza = better looking wrx

I agree, I like the GC8 better, the '98-'01 2.5RS, better than the 02-03 WRX. But I do like a the new '04 WRX a whole lot more than the first one.
