ok, i have apr programing on my 01 1.8t(awm motor) and when i start the car after a long park....... overnight a few hrs after getting somewhere and start it.... it boost's up to normal.... 17is psi
but after driving for a while.... parking say 30 minutes or so and driving more it will only boost to 5-8 psi.... i thought heat soak was occuring so i put back in my factory airbox and filter
well i drove it last night and it was more peppy.... blah blah blah
so i go to take my kids to get their hairs cut today and it is still doing it........
what could this be? stuck waste gate? i do have a n75 race valve and stratosphere dv..... could it be the dv is going bad? n75 going bad? just got the race valve about 6 months or so ago.... the dv was used with about 20,xxx miles on it, i put about 15,xxx more.......
i don't hear a vac leak........ and turbo sounds fine

if you have the stock n75, drop it in. If that doesnt fix it, then check the wastegate.

Yes i know this is a cheap ebay turbo but it shows the wastegate well
Just make sure the arm is tight and there is not visable cracks on the turbine

ok, i put in the stock n75 and that seems to be the problem...... would a race valve go bad after just about 6 months?
does anyone else offer it besides ecs? anyone else have this problem with their race valve? should i contact them about replacing it, or chalk it up to not always aftermarket is better?
and if it start happening again in a few days i will then look at my wg....... or when i am doing my dp
so morale of the story.... cause i know there seem to be alot of people running into low or no boost...... your n75 might be bad.... might find someone with one around you that you know works and throw it in.... took me all of maybe 10 minutes to switch them out

I could be fine. Not all chips like all n75's. however, mbc's work with ALL chips. If you want more boost, just look into a bleed style mbc. Turbonetics make a variable boost controller (bleed) that they sell on ebay for like $45

i might get into that when i do my work on the first........ but i have always heard that is it is only giac that doesn't like the race vlave, that apr is fine with it
lol
hey, but thanks for the quick reply, even though i kind of new the answer after asking the question

ok.......i put the stock n75 back in.......thought that fixed the issue
the car will boost to 17is when i first drive it for the day or after an extended stay somewhere, but after the car gets nice and warm, it almost seems like it is going into limp mode, but all the power is there
what i mean by "limp" is it won't boost past say 6 or 7, but it is like i have full power......i don't hear any vac leaks........ any ideas?

getting any check lights?
and you should never boost a car as soon as you start it. drive it with out pushing boost for a bit until it warms up. FYI
but tell me one thing..when it hits 6-7psi, is it stable? is the boost gauge needle steady or like bouncing at 6-7psi?

no check engine light
and i know this........it is a stable needle...........and the only reason i am answering this is cause you are the first to respond, someone else might get something from this
and the fact that it seems like you are trying to actually learn/help

well im trying to help you, b/c this happened to me, i was using a stock n75 and it would change boost randomly,(didnt pay attention to if it was after it was warm or not), and i put on an MBC(i now have an EBC) the mbc fixed it...but my main problem was the 02 code was sending limp mode signals, which basically means you need to get a boost controller. some think i dont know turbo cars, but i do...i just dont know much about going BT

No, you've successfully learned how to use the Search button to locate bits and pieces of information, then paraphrase it.
Nonetheles, good job.

if it is just my n75 gonig bad, i have no problem using a mbc........ but if it is something else cause my car to go limp throwing on a mbc will just over ride limp and could cause engine failure in the long run right?

i got told i could be in soft limp and need to reset my ecu....... could this be right?
how do i do that?
and i am stumped as to why it works fine till the car is nice and warm...... them it hits
someone please

ok, so i unhooked my battery.... both cables for like 30 minutes....and it is still there
so i am thinking, when i do my big project on the 1st i will look at my waste gate, but i will be ordering a new n75 valve....... see if that works

find someone with a mbc and barrow it to see if that cures it. Just dont go buying parts without a clear reason for things happening. Also, just because you dont have a cel, doesnt mean you dont have codes.

ok, here is my question and i think my answer too........ but on my way home from dinner tonight, i was comming down a nice quiet street and i hear a gushing of air..... like a boost leak...... could this be the culprit...... not being an issue when the car is colder, cause i am not getting into the boost, but once it warms up and i do start getting into the boost, it is making my boost guage seem "irratic"?
i know a vac leak will kill boost, but when the car is cold you hit boost some times and when it is starting to get warm you might hit full boost, but when it is nice and warm you tend to get all over the boost..... so that is when/why i notice it more then?
thanks in advance for the help

A vac leak would throw a code i have found with mine, also boost tested and no leaks. try to pin point the sound of gushing air, as it sounds like the exact problem I have, my gushing air noise sounds like the DV is doin nothin but letting the air by. i also have that R1 on my second one as the first one did this to me. stay away from the R1s. hopefully the forge 004 i have in the mail cures my boost problems.

so i was parked at the gas station..... had to clean my windows and i hear air..... already new i had a leak.... kind of new where........ so i pop the hood and come to find out i was right
it is circled in red in this pic........ not possitive this is the culprit to my other issue..... but a boost leak can cause the problems i have been having..... so first thing in the am i am getting some new hose....... then will eventually go with hose from 034 or somewhere and replace all the hoses
but here is the pic.... will tell you guys tomorrow if it fixed it

ok, my problem has been fixed
solution:
if you look in the pic i have, i replaced the factory hose that i used for my boost guage.... and also the black hose that is attached to the boost guage was colapsing when it would get warm/cold and cracked
this might help some one else with the same issue
