OK, someone chime in. The kid wants to know what his max practical size is. +1? +2? +3? I already PM'd him my $0.02. Thought he should have others opinions, too!

Sorry Kid. I just KNEW some of our more opinionated members would jump in with their either whole- or half-baked knowledge on what your max could be.
FWIW, since we traded PM's, I did do some looking around the interwebs and, on the newer A8's I have seen 22's mentioned, and even 24's, ut, as I alluded to in my original reply, going too large brings up other issues.
*MY* personal, practical max is ans will remain 19". I'm not an ultimate expert. My decision/choice is based on my understanding of teh dynamics involved, and the experiences I've had. To shallow a side-wall and you are asking for bent wheels, possible premature bearing wear-out (when you go bigger you generally go wider, too, to maintain teh same rolling diameter, but you can play with teh numbers to keep that w/o going too wide, too), wet-weather handling, and a host of other potentialities.
With what I've seen, coupled with what you say about where you'll be driving, I''d say prolly 20" or 21" at the absolute. City driving generally means more pot-holes, but your speeds are usually slower, so the damage factor could be said to be lower.
