I just caught the tail end of the BBC News on cable.

I think the reporter said that a "financial inquiry" has shut down the plant in Longbridge. No one is working there....

Is that true? Did I hear the report correctly? Does this mean the maker has stopped production?

Anybody know what's going on?

Yeh I'm in London right now and this is the BIG news. From what I can tell the whole plant shut down. Whether this includes the whole company I dont know. I want to say it does because they were talking about a Chineese company coming in to buy it. This was going to be their last gimmer of hope but then the Chineese said they didnt want it.

I'm from birmingham england, ( now live in california.) If this is true, The rover plant pretty much employs most of birmingham. this is baad news!!! i loved the new mgs they brought out a few years ago, they were some hot stuff.. Damn. BTW. longbridge is a suburb sort of thing in birmingham, but rover is fed by so many companies in the midlands, this is a sad day indeed.
