My Bad Day

So today was started off bad it was raining outside and never got above 50 degrees. I woke up at 9:00am and went to the gym (that was the only good thing). As I'm driving home I see the ambulance pull up my street and turn to head down to my brothers house. So I follow it down the road and jump out of my car almost forgot to set my e-brake. I run into the house and my brother is lying on the floor with blood pouring from his head. Talking to his roomate Sean his 90 lb. pitbull/boxer attacked my brother while he was wrestling with it. He said the dog grabbed his head and would not let go. So I follow the ambulance down to the hospital and they rush him into ER, and then into plastic surgery. He has 12 holes in his face some of them could not be stiched up because they were worried about infection. I feel so bad for the kid. Talking to Sean, there going to have the dog put down for safety reasons.

that blows horribly man, i definatly feel for you and your bro (and the roomate that had to watch that).
He is very lucky to be alive, i believe it is pitbulls that do not let go until their jaws close is it not?
also sorry to hear about that man
yea, they have a lockjaw, when they bite down, it locks into place...so like physically trying to pry open the mouth is almost impossible, ud have to scare off the dog to let go or somethin...

damn, i feel for you, skid, hopefully your brother will be back on his feet soon..
spence, it's actually not literally a locked jaw, as most people think. nothing locks into place or anything like that..they just have super strong bites...something like 8 times stronger than most dogs

yeah, that... and it's in their mentality not to let go until their mouth fully closes.... crazy sh*t

yea, it's an instinctual (sp?) thing...i've had pitbulls all my life and i've never been bitten, and i play very rough with all of them...but apparently it's not uncommon for well-trained pitbulls to do sh!t like this pit did.
skidplate, keep us posted

From what I got last nite talking to his roomate more my brother was playing with his puppy and the dog lunged at him grabbed him by the face and basically locked on to his face, and the boxer in him took over and shook his head like boxers do. The dog just missed his right eye and left 12 holes in his face. The stupid doctors sent him home with only a few percocet for pain so I made a few phone calls and got him a few more for the night. They said he's going to have to go back for more plastic surgery to get rid of some of the scarring that is going to occur. Hey could have been worse though he looks better from when I saw him lying in his own blood.
Thanks for the support guys much appreciated

They are trying to put a ban on pitbulls in either ontario, or canada... I support it. I dont care if some of them make great pets, this kind of thing happens WAY to often.
But yes, I hope your brother makes a speedy recovery, this is a very unfortunate and frustrating situation, I can imagine.

Best wishes to your brother, and a speedy recovery. My friend had a pitbull, a german shepard and two cats. The pitbull attacked the Shepard, then killed both cats. My friend then took the pitbull out back and put a 9mm slug in its head. They are bad bad dogs.

They should outlaw them in Jersey too. It's a horrible situation and I would'nt want to hear of this happening to anyone else.

I just dont understand it... and a solid 50% of the time, the people who own them are dirtbags... and they want their dog to intimidate people. But yes, these dogs have a malice in them that no other dog knows... and like I said before, I'm sure some of them make great pets... if the owners coddle the hell out of them... but they still have a very malicious instinct i guess. The pitbull ban is a good idea, and should be worldwide... that is one species the world can live without.
Any word on your bro? How is he?

i don't agree, shok...i've owned about 6 pitbulls in my life, and if you treat them right, they seriously can be one of the best dogs out there..there is just a really bad rep for them because of what you said above, the majority of people that get them are not good dog owners, or they just get it because it looks mean and tough....it really is a shame though because they aren't bad dogs if you treat them well

Still though, dobermans can be made into vicious dogs as well... but you dont hear about them doing the things pitbulls do... and MOST of the time, the owners are quite suprised as to what their dog has done -- they kill for fun... locally, 2 pitbulls tore free of their female owner, and chased down, and slaughtered a small dog, that was being walked -- the owner of the small dog eventually just ran to safety, when she realized her dog was already dead.
And the girl who owned the pitbulls was horrified, and shocked... i'm tellin you, the dogs are effin crazy. Something inside them just goes off... and then watch out.

I just ran oer to his house he seems better. he has a full bandage around his head but thats kind of normal being the situation. He went to the docotrs today and he said, the scarring wont be too bad being he got bit in the side of cheek. But thats after more plastic surgery and now it looks like micro surgery also. The micro surgery will hopefully repair the nerve damage to the side of his face. If you look at him his one side of the face does not move. But he's doing well. He's also looking to get rid of his other dog too now.
Once again guys thanks... jay aka skidplate
