My dad recently gave me his 1997 Audi A8 in the winter he lost control and hit a tree, no serious damage, just raidator a/c condenser and the bumper cover, my problem is the car sat for quite a while without being started and now the battery is dead, i cant locate the jump point or open the trunk, what should i do to get the car started?

i dont know if the key hole is jambed in the back but all i can do is push it in, which should release the latch, unless its locked, and i believe the only reason i cant unlock it is because its all power locks...i dont know, im not too smart when it comes to audis, all i know is that this is a hot car and i love to drive it... and as for the jump points being under the hood i contacted my local audi dealer and they said the same thing, either infront of the firewall under the plastic covers, or behind the radiator support, and i looked for them but to no avail i found no points...HELP PLEASE !!

as far as the trunk goes, can you turn the key in the trunk lock?
power should not matter, the key is unlocking the trunk.
whay about the keyless entry remote, the locking systems are vacume operated.

they look like metal pegs. when u do find them a jump may not do it.
check manual for using a battery charger. i think you need to set it on 6v not 12v
too much juice could fry the computer.

try using some wd 40 or graphite in the lock cylender. may be rusted from sitting.

nly place I cud find on my D2 when I accidently killed my batt was the batt itself, in teh tunk. If teh lock is siezed you might try spraying some graphite in it and then wiggling the key (gently but firmly) back and forth, see if that frees it up. Or, get a LARGE caliber handgun or a shotgun...

Nice attention to the detail "bentframe"!!

If you read your A8 manual, it should talk about how to jump start your car. My 97 A6's battery was drained, and I had to get it jump started. As someone mentioned earlier, I found the + connector by the firewall under a black square plastic. The - is just a ground pin. I found mine about the passenger side fender by the shocks (I don't remember the exact location). But all of these were in the owner's manual. By the way, when you manage to find the connectors and hook up the jump cables to them, make sure you let the car be connected for a few minutes. Mine wouldn't start initially and I had to let it be connected for a minute or so.
