hey guys,
i just joined but i've been looking at the forums for a good amount of time.
i was looking into to buying a 98-00 a4 (or anything under $10k) for my first car and i just have a few quick questions.
how much money do you have to put into maintenece? ill probably have to replace the timing belt and also the diverter valve if i chip it, but i want an idea of what ill be paying to keep her running.
are there any models that fall apart faster/ stay together better? i would rather pay more in the begining than be stuck with a car that takes more money than its worth.
im really hoping to buy one by the summer and just want to make the right decision. thanks alot for your help!

before you buy it write down the vin# and go to your local Audi dealership for service records. Audi uses a computer network that all dealerships are connected to (I went to dealership A and was told all the work was done at dealership B) so I went to dealership B and they printed out service records for free. You might be in for a suprise, I paid 10k for my A4 quattro with 107k miles just to find out that my engine was replaced with a brand new one at 50k and 2k miles ago the timing belt was replaced........I had the biggest smile walking out of that dealership, The pain in my ass known ass "empty wallet syndrome" suddenly went away
