Hello everyone,

I just picked up a 2000 A4 1.8TQM with 120k miles for $4500. It's in overall pretty good shape but has a very small amount of body rust :( which definitely helped my case in getting the car for so cheap.

Mods to the car are (if you can call them mods):
Tint
Custom grille (S4? thats what the guy said but idk)
In-dash DVD player (a small screen, nothing crazy)
Custom sub enclosure with 2 10s and amp
Front components with amps in the glove box

The only real (performance) mod:
GIAC chip (haven't seen proof of this, but i half believe the previous owner that its actually there. i'll hook up a boost gauge and check it out)

I had it checked by a mechanic before I decided to buy. Only a few minor things - front brake hoses and a tie rod end need replacing, and 3 ball joints are starting to give a little. I'm pretty good with cars I can do all of this myself, shouldnt cost more than a couple hundred i bet. The display in the dash is scrambled but I hear thats a common problem. The service records are fairly complete, and include the timing belt and water pump at about 100k miles.

Here is the only pic of the car I have right now (the pic is huge), but I'll get more showing everything I talked about including the rust. Overall I'm very happy with it.

Sorry for the long post. I look forward to this car very much.

looks nice, just so you know you have just a badgless three slot grill, it is not an S4 grill.

well, no new pics yet, but some good and bad news.

good: got proof of the chip, its actually APR 93 octane and not GIAC. whatever.
bad: just noticed timing belt invoice said *ESTIMATE* on it and i was too stupid to notice. called the shop and they have to record of it actually being done. wtf.

oh well, kinda too late now. i'll be getting a kit from ECS and changing it all out before the car even hits the road again (except for the 5 miles to my house). at least then i'll know exactly how many miles are on it. only downside of that is that i dont have time to do it until the weekend of may 17th so the car will have to stay parked until then :(

yea... it is kind of lame. but its already nearly 3 grand below NADA wholesale value and with all the audio/video stuff plus APR chip, so i figured id just go with it. now if i couldnt do the timing belt myself and would have to pay a grand to have it done, that would be a whole different story.

and the rust: http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/4995/dsc00271oq1.jpg

overall, i think its pretty good. for $4500 theres no way i could pass it up.

its sitting there where its parked until i have time to do the timing belt in a couple weeks. i just dont see a reason to chance it with that many miles and no assurance that it was actually done before.
