AWWW SHIAT!!!!!!!! WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!
i'm an A3 San Diegan also!!!!!! where you at?
as for the chip, there's EFI performance on Miramar Rd, he's a certified APR dealer, i got it chipped there for 600 bucks and got a few extra things adding up to 800 bucks. go to
www.goapr.com and you'll find out, there's a link to EFI's webpage too. the apr chip has a program so the dealer won't find out about the chip, check it out. althought i suggest you get your first 5,000 miles on your A3 first before you chip it.
a few of us A3 owners are planning to have a gtg in June, don't know exactly when or where yet, but you're definately invited.
Again, welcome, it's good to have an A3 brother in San Diego!!!!!

i haven't dyno'd my car yet, but from other A3 member's dynos, they added 35-40 horses, and about 70 lbs of torgue, you can REALLY feel the difference after the chip. i got the 91 octane program, plus the stock program (you need it in order to avoid the loss of your warranty), and i got the lock-out code program so no one can mess with my switch buttons, as for your tires, if you have a heavy foot, you're definately gonna wear out your tire soon. it all depends on your driving habbits, what model options did you get? sport? prem? sky? rims? color? leather? post a pix when you can, i'd like to see it.

I have only a REVO chip as a mod now, with a CAT-back exhaust coming soon. The added HP & TQ is absolutely amazing with this engine. I can't floor it fully in the first 3 gears with out the ESP kicking in constantly to slow tire spin. It'll make you want to get wider tires and bigger brakes immediately. But we still seek more, it's a horrible addiction.
Beware that any mods to your car will void the warranty and possibly shorten the life of the engine and engine components. Don't do any of this if your not comfortable with that. Very Important!
Cheers!

hey chef
my ESP lights light up when i floor it ONLY on first gear, but i see no powerloss, i feel it spinning though, but ESP doesn't kick it in like it did before the chip, as for 2nd and 3rd years, i have full traction, huh, weird. maybe i i just weight more than you do. haa

I'm sure that our weight difference are mostly insignificant. I had another person in my car today and it slipped all the way through 1rst and 2nd, although I did get full traction in 3rd. I think that it's the chip and demands on the engine. I guess that from the difference, I might be replacing my turbo first? Hummmm. I wonder if I could get it to blow just before the 50k mile mark? My luck would have it blow at 51k with Audi laughing in my face.
You have the sport suspension too with the Pirelli PZero Rossos, correct?

Matter of fact man, go get them to put the demo in your car. I'm not sure how long it lasts but they flash your car and it stays for a day or something but you get to feel what you'll be buying befor you actualy pay for it (great deal)

The REVO demo will last for 8 hours. The only potential drawback is that you end up with what REVO considers stock and not actual factory stock. I'm not sure there is much of a difference, but it's the point if you'll want it truly stock. The SPS devices aren't quite at the dealers yet but are much cooler than the previous versions. There are two with the first switching between stock, stage 1, and lock-out. The second does all of the first plus links with a program on your computer to allow you to adjust all of the settings to whatever you want and change the programing on your car. Cool options but the pricing isn't listed yet.

yeah, i got the sport suspension with Pirelli tires, it must be the chip. so does that mean you're getting more power from the Revo chip since the tires slips more than mine? as for upgrading, my APR chip guy at Performance EFI says that if APR comes out with an upgraded chip for the A3 that can boost more power, then it'll be free for me to upgrade it.

T2T and I talked about running a dyno on both our cars when I get my exhaust installed. He is running a full APR stage 2 chip with a CAT back APR exhaust. I'll have the Stage 2 REVO chip with a GReddy CAT back exhaust. It should be a good comparison of performance between tuning companies. You and I only have the chips now, so a comparison between us would be good too. We also have the same packages on the cars. Pretty much an apples to apples comparison.
Cheers!

did t2t say that he got roughly 8 horses more with the apr exhaust?
Chef

Yeah, that sounds about right. I personally don't think just a CAT Back exhaust will give much more horsepower with an already chipped ecu. Going to help with EGT's and some turbo life, but performance gains will be small. We've already gotten the biggest bang we can without upgrading the turbo.

Ya Chef is right. The biggest improvements in both hp and torque came with just chipping the A3. My improvements were marginal when I got the 3" exhaust and the APR Stage II. The exhaust did put me well over the 300 mark for torque though. And it sounds like a sports car now, similiar to a Z350 or a G35 with enlarged twim pipes.
Note to Chef - about the dyno. I just took my car to Eurocode Tuners in Torrance to get the latest APR Stage II, Version 2 ECU upgrade and the car is running a bit slower for some reason. I know that there is a learning period but it was noticibly slower off the line right out of the driveway and after 100 miles, it has gotten much better. I'll have to call the guys at APR and find out what's the hap with this latest rev. So I may need to wait to do that dyno check. By the way, your car looked so good at that last GTG that I'm going with the Neuspeed lowering springs on Tuesday to try for that lower, agressive look.

T2T,
how much torque are you pumping out of your A3?

Chef

i'm getting my black side marker lights to replace the yellow and white blinker lights tomorrow, one problem though, how do i take the the stock lights off without scratching or denting up my car?

Nam,
T2T said that he was getting right at 307lbs of torque. I also did get pictures up of the S3 emblems on my car. Looky down to see and go into my gallery for more pics. PeePee racers beware!!!

Osmand, checked out your A3 on your website. You should dump a few of those mods into a photo gallery on this forum.
Back on topic:
Warning, anyone looking to chip their A3, don't go to APR. Apparently they're working some bugs out of their program and have greatly tuned it down from the avertised power ratings. I have the Stage II program with exhaust and was quite happy with my 243hp and 307lb-ft torque. But I took it in, two weeks ago, to get the latest version upgrade and I couldn't even make the wheels slip in second gear. I called APR and they told me they had to tune the program down because they were getting complaints about some fuel delivery issues.
Until they can work these issues out, I wouldn't recommend them.

f***
what do i do now? is the car gonna blow up on me? =) i haven't gotten my ecu upgraded since my initial chip, should i do something about this? put it back in stock mode for now? go to the apr dealer and demand my $ back?
Well, hey now. I'll definitely be racing any of you APR guys now. At least until my A3 blows up!!! J/K LOL
They always have different versions and upgrades. Just hang on and wait. They'll have a correction before too long.
Cheers!
