I put new wheels on my car and the left rear wheel now rubs the inside of the strut assembly. I took the car to a ghetto alignment shop down the street to see what they thought. The guy said that the wheel camber on all wheels is in spec but that the left rear wheel is further toward the center of the car than the right one ( you can visually see it). I am not sure if the left side has been pushed from an accident or what. I have looked at my Bentley manual and it looks like you can do a little bit of adjustment to the rear by loosening the rear suspension mounting bolts and shifting the entire rear end around. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so how much can you move the rear end? The guy said I could put a spacer on the left side to compensate for the short term but I would rather try to fix the problem.

I don't know, the guy I bought it from said no but this makes me think otherwise.

My fronttrak did the same. my alignment is good and all that but sometimes it rubbed on the plate the spring sits on (whatever its called) it didnt do anything wrong to my car when it was like that but i dont wanna say that its fine the way it is. fix your camber and get your car aligned and it should be fixed (worked for me)

get some 10mm wheel spacers for the back and call it a day...lol
do you know what the offset is on your new wheels
what size are they?
what size tires are you running?
are you on stock suspension?

I was running 18"x8" with, I believe, a 45 offset. The wheels have 225/40/18 size tires. Many others have run this setup without a problem. I have since put my old wheels back on. Right now I hate my car :(
Is anyone else familiar with how this car is aligned? I am not so sure the guy knew what he was talking about- the Bentley manual says to get the rear end aligned after doing any major work on it so I would assume that there is a way to do it??? I know the front uses a subframe to equalize the camber. I wonder if the rear is similar in terms of moving the entire rear end around...

I am on stock suspension at the moment. I have an HR cup kit waiting to go on but I need to fix this problem first.

that offset should rub from what I know
our cars can handle 32-42, 45 is pushing it....stock offset is 35...all you need to do is get a set of 5-10mm spacers and call it a day...
just buy two spacers for the back, get your suspension installed and get your new wheels back on...
don't forget to post pics when you get the car back together!

The offset is actually 35mm.

You really can't get much adjustment by shifting the rear end, it can only move maybe 1mm to either side because there isn't any room on either side of the bolts holding the rear end on. I really wouldn't worry about negative camber on the rear however, i run close to 2 degrees negative camber in the rear on my S4 and don't get any tire wear, there isn't any weight on it.
The fronts at 1.5 degrees negative however get torn apart.
