http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3775113 Hey guys I have been looking to see what these wheels looking liked painted. I can't find a pic anywhere so if you could help me out possibly it would be awesome. It would be best to see it on a car but either would work.

I've always thought they'd look cool polished. Kinda like TT fat-fives, only not fat.

That's what i've been telling myself but i just can't picture it. I dont have the money to fork over for some rims right now so i'm just trying to do something to satisfy me until i do. Maybe i'll just suck it up and do it.

search the forum, I know people on here have painted the Stock 16's black before. Personally I am kinda liking the idea of polishing them

the zine' has a pretty active Cinci crew that seems to be meeting more often but I haven't personally heard of much.
Although I am out of the loop being car-less in C-Bus for the year and then I'll have my car with me up here in C-bus next year.

carless? why do you not have your car.

because being a freshman, my parents won't let me bring my car up to campus, so it's sitting at home in Cincinnati why I am two hours north going to school.
But there is a positive to it because I've had a power steering rack leak that I am finally getting fixed but by not driving my car a lot, I've saved myself like 100 bucks on Power steering fluid, which has been reallocated to more enjoyable past times.

you did do a really good job on the paint, but man you can barely tell you have wheels on the car now. It's like you are hovering with those little white disks on the first picture.

shouldve painted them all white imo.
I was thinking about doing this too, I have the same type of rims.
What color do you guys think would look good for me...
Sorry about the lighting, it was sunset when I took these. Its not black.

Duplicolor graphite is my opinion.

There's a guy on here with our 2.8 wheels painted gunmetal and to me, they just look dirty, like they're in desperate need of a wash. Polished might look nice and maybe black, but I would stay away from brake dust colored paint.
We need a new designated photoshop genius...I think Leifer's taken to drink.

yea they turned out a little darker then i imagined, although those pictures are at dusk il take some daylight ones a little later, but white would have been impossible to keep clean. and im one of those people that if my wheels are dirty i have to clean them.... so this would take up way too much of my time hah. in the somewhat distant future i plan on getting a carbon fiber hood and trunk possibly so i figured a dark color would fit in in the end. i think il try painting the audi rings on the hubs white or silver next time i get a chance.

Painting the calipers would be a really nice touch, too.

I would describe it as a very very dark grey, possibly a gunmetal. At night you would think its black. Graphite might be a nice choice.
Sineo do you have pics of someone who painted there stocks gunmetal?
