I have a 1997 A6 Avant 2.8 and recently ordered a pollen filter assuming that this model had one that required periodic changing. After consulting with my owners manual, I did not see any reference to such a filter for this model. Is it possible that this model does not have a pollen filter and that I should just send the filter I ordered back to the parts store?

Thanks in advance for the knowledgable input.

pop you hood. look under the passenger side trim under the window. The trim should pop up with the removal of a few plastic screws.

I went under the hood, removed the plastic covering which extends across the engine compartment near the window, saw over by the passenger side, a compartment with 3 (6 mm screws) which I unscrewed, but that is as far as I got. This black plastic box has the word Siemens stamped on top. I also noticed that on the drivers side, there was a black box with the words Avoid Ingress of Water stamped on it with a metal clamp. This wouldn't be the pollem filter compartment would it?

I would like to find a user friendly manual for my 1997 A6 Avant, any ideas where to get one? I don't want something on a CD-ROM.

Thanks

pollen filter will be on the passenger side and requires replacement at 2 years or 40,000 miles in the UK
