I just recently replaced the front brake pads and now there is a rattle only when I hit bumps / potholes. Braking is smooth with no noise. I doubled checked everything to make sure they were snug. Any thoughts?

You might have a problem with your control arm bushings.

Audi had a recall on them. I don't know what years exactly though.

I have the same problem with my rear brakes which I replaced approx. 2 months ago. The dealer told me it might be the after market brake pads. Have you fix your problem yet?

I had this problem and FIXED it. Everyone told me it was control arm bushings, but that made no sense, b/c it happened when I swapped out brakes. My problem? Piece of garbage pads. I talked to alot of other Audi guys about this and even a few guys over at Renn-Art, and they said you need to use Mintex pads. They are amazing quality. Since I've swapped out the fronts and rears last week with the Mintex, BOO YAH... no rattle. Just look into some better quality pads.

if it is the pads rattling it could be the spring that holds them tight in the caliper. if the spring isnt holding tight enough the outside pad could be rattling

Why don't you take the wheel off, put the arm on another jack and raise it up and down. Listen to the noise and hopefully you will find the problem. I had the same noise but only at the back, it used to drive me crazy trying to find out where the noise is coming from. I jacked up the wheel axle up and down and found the problem to be a loose bolt connecting the sway bar to the axle.
