Vail is by far my favorite mountain, but I only make it that far west about 7 times a year. Getting stuck in I-70 traffic sucks and driving all the way there is definitely an all day affair. I'm usually at Keystone but Breck has a great mountain too. I was there last Tuesday and the snow was amazing. The snow this year is better than I've seen it in at least 10 years. There are 10-15ft piles of snow in the hwy medians s*** is crazy right now. All I ask is that if you're from Texas just take a bus from DIA or fly all the way to Vail, I saw at least 4 cars wrecked on both sides of the hwy last week all with TX plates, including an A6. Ice pwns all.

Skiing tricks are way cooler.
Little tip for travelers to CO if you don't like snowboarders go to Aspen Mtn as they still do not allow and sideways sliding on their pompous(sp?) mountain.
I call shenanigans I was at Aspen this winter with ~500 OSU students half of which snowboarded and we rode all 4 of there mountains, in the group there where two skiers to 4 snowboarders and we got everywhere, but the boarders got the most stuck in anything deep (didn't help it was most of our first times out west) and they also didn't like highlands that much
also as of the beginning of this year there were four mountains that still didn't allow snowboarding,( I forget there four names) but Burton had a video competition to post snowboarders illegally poaching the remaining resorts to send a message to let them come in. I know at least Toas, NM the only one of the 4 I can think of right now is letting snowboarders in next year.

You can't snowboard on Aspen Mtn. You can on Buttermilk, The Highlands and Snowmass which are part of Aspen Resort but the main mtn is off limits. Taos, Aspen and Park City, UT I believe are 3 of the 4 that don't allow it. And Keystone only started allowing snowboarding in like '98 or '99.

Having skied in most of the areas in Utah, I think it is only Alta that is ski only. Its my favoriate place to ski in Utah.
I am going to Squaw Valley in 3 weeks, I cant wait!!!!!

Are you sure, Aspen has 4 mountains right, Buttermilk, Snowmass, Highlands, and Aspen mountain (ajax). I know we rode them all and we had snowboarders with us all the time, maybe they started this year, because I know what I rode and my snowboarder friends never got in trouble for it, the gondola's even had racks for snowboards.
i cold be wrong but I think I'm right

You're probably right. It's been a long time since I went there (due to no snowboards). It probably changed when they started doing the Xgames there.

hey, where do you ride in Ohio?
My "home mountain" if you will, was Alpine Valley up near Cleveland but I've been known to hit up Boston Mills and Brandywine as well. I have yet to check out Mad River or anywhere her in Columbus. I'd be down for a trip if you don't mind skiing w/ a beginner!
