Has anyone put the shifter paddles on their A4? Also, I want to put a different shift knob on. The one that's there is too much like a camry. (Blah, vomit!)
Any ideas?

SO IM ASSUMING INSTEAD OF PADDLE SHIFTERS ON YOUR STEERING WHEEL YOU HAVE STEREO CONTROLS RIGHT? WHAT YEAR IS YOUR A4 AND WHAT KIND OF A4 IS IT???

It's "03, but no radio controls. I have heard of someone putting a newer steering wheel on, but wanted to know if anyone hand tried it. Also, wanted to know if anyone has changed out the tiptronic shift knob?

Expensive and a lot of work. I looked into it. You need to add the wiring hub that goes behind the wheel too. You might get a used RS wheel for $1000 to $2000, I don't know how much the hub is.
You can get a MOMO shift knob, don't know if anyone else makes one.

You know.... it IS possible.
But is it worth spending over a grand in parts just to have paddle shifters?
Steering wheel and Airbag = $1000-1200 for ummmm. RS4 Wheel for example
Labor = 4 hours at about $90/hour = $360
Easily under $1500.00 just to do this... VERY possible but not worth the money. Instead go invest on some performance parts
and to answer you question on the tiptronic shift knob, also possible but im not too sure where to find the part. I know someone on here knows where to get the adapter but I cant recall who...
while you are changing your knob make sure you put a short shifter on your TIP aswell... hahahha jk

hey EVOLA4, does the new shifter work pretty good? I was thinking about buying one aswell but I wasnt sure if I would have any issues? How was the install? and how do you put the car into gears that require the botton to be pressed down?

Shifter works great. The only thing that I would recommend is putting some thread lock on the scews that hold it in place otherwise you will have to tighten it from time to time. The install was pretty straight forward and SPP supplies great instructions. took about 15 min. hardest part was taking off the oem knob. In order to put it into gear you pull up on the knob now instead of pushing a button. I love it, Looks and feels great! I have had it for almost two years and never had a problem.

Oh really? Ok cool. I think Im going to order mine when my fat commission check comes in at the end of the month. Its not a pain to pull it up? Is it meant to be pulled up? Or is it just a ghetto rig?
Sorry for all the questions... I just like to know the product before I buy.

not a pain at all, you pull it up and it springs back down. works great. not Ghetto at all. quality stuff imho. You actually get really used to it and don't even think about it. Another good thing is that for stupid crooks it works as an anti-theft device. I had someone steal my keys from my pocket at a construction site. open my car and start it but they couldn't figure out how to shift it into gear. Never did get those keys back but it was better than getting my car stolen.

I'll look into those options. (Short throw for tiptronic? For rizzle my dizzle?) No really thanks. I was just interested inpaddle shifters that's all, but you have big point about the cost. Since we are talking about shifting in tip. Anyone have any ideas about speeding up shifting and or hook up? It just seems to take a lot of time to go from stand still, and with shifting.

I haven't found anything to make the car shift faster. Some say you can get a Tip chip but I haven't found one for a B6. One thing you can do though is change the programming through vag com so the car will shift at more appropriate times and remove the redline limiter. Recode the transmission to 000032, or 000022, or 000012. I might have forgot a 0 in there not sure if it's 4 or 5. 000032 worked best for me.
