I made an appointment to have this job done. My car has 83K mi. When the mechanic told me he would replace the tensioner , he also said he'd replace the dumper. What is a dumper?

I think he meant damper pulley. Here is his estimate:

Water Pump 85.00
Timing Belt 33.00
Tensioner 72.00
Damper Pulley 90.00
Ribbed Belt 18.00
V-Belt 10.00
Labor 280.00

He did not include seals or hoses, or G-12 antifreeze.

So what is the total damage going to be?

That seems a little high, any other shops?

This shop is near by, and will let me wait. From the waiting area the work area is visible. About 2 years ago the dealer quoted me $1,100.

I'll post the actual bill after the job is completed on 4/11/05.
