But the Lucky Sevens Bar is finally open for friends and family - this includes AF members who find their way into the Bakersfield area, of course...

Can actually say that with the exception of the wood floors, we designed, built and installed everything else. Wasn't easy nor is it perfect - but it's ours

lol... be careful what you wish for!

the wife and I sat down on New Year's day and wondered what our project for the 08 would be - new pool? spa? balcony off the master bedroom... ? all that stuff was too costly. So we decided to build a bar - but I said if we're going to do that I want the whole room to be a bar - not just some liqour bar in the corner of a rec-room.

Started getting serious about the project around the end of January. First off all the bars we looked at cost $4000 to $8000 depending on size and decor. So I researched and found some plans to online that were easily modifiable (cost $19.99 to enroll).

The final cost on the bar was $1465! Would have been about $200 cheaper but my beginning woodworking skills were sub-par then. So more wood was needed. lol

Maybe we can finagle a SoCal GTG up this way - going to install a 37" HD LCD in the corner.

Good Job. I finished my basement just in time for the season premiere of LOST and the Superbowl.

Lookin' good .  If I had a spare room that I could turn into a game room, I would do the same thing.

very nice.  (impressive little slide show(
diy home projects are always challanging, but very rewarding to sit back and see work you've done!  i've done a few projects around the house that turned out quite well!!

you should submit your pics to a magazine (better homes and gardens or something).   they always like to show before and after stuff.

my favorite is more of a decorating thing, but i did a mosaic of different wooden wine box lids in varying shapes and wood stain colors against a wall and put glass shelves in front, and lights from above and below.  looks nice!  (even if i do say so myself!)

i promise to bring a bottle of wine if i'm ever in the neighborhood.

SO.............

WHAT'S THE NEXT PROJECT

Thats my dream basement right there. Good stuff, if I'm ever in SoCal I'll hit you for a game of 501.

never played 501 - I play cricket mostly - my cousin handed me 3 to 1 beating there lol

as for carding - if you drive up in an Audi - by all means you'll be served

Next project??? damn! I want to enjoy this for at least a little while, Kelly! lol

But the little woman's talking about finally designing the backyard into something...
well at least at the end of the day I can saddle up to my own bar and have a cold one with the jukebox going...

BTW - open invite! Any one passing through CenCal - give me a heads up I'll have the bar open and beer on ice

don't forget to chill the champagne!!

landscaping....as i'm sure you know...is hard work.  i moved 3 tons of rock, wheel barrow by wheel barrow from the driveway to the back yard.  that's a good way to discover muscles you never knew you had!!  definitely back breaking work.  might be worth while to hire parts of that out!
but...living in california, having a nice back yard is a must since you're able to enjoy it year round!

Champagne??? I'll have a bottle ready for you, Kell, just in case you and hub swing through

well before the backyard gets a final we need to figure whether or not there will be a pool...
