Underhood air filters

Hello all,

New to this forum.

We own a '01 S4 Avant (love it!) and I just bought a '97 A8 with only 70K. There are two filters mounted in the rear part of the hood that appear to have never been changed.

I cannot find them in the owners manual and was wondering if anyone knew what they are, what they do and if there are aftermarket (vs. dealer only) filters that can replace them?

Sounds like it is the air filters for the climate control system. I do not know if there is any aftermarket filters, don't know why there wouldn't be.

they are the cabin filters for you ac, you can get them at auto parts stors and online, Don't know exactly where
