I just got a laptop with vagcom already installed..  I ran the codes and came up with 00140, 03242, 00101..  My car is undrivable, every time it hits 2,000rpms it looses all response and drops back to 500rpms.. The idle is very low and after attepmting to clear the codes nothing has changed,  what do I do?!!

When I do a test it says

COM Port status: OK
Interface status: 0 - found, ready
Fast - synch Compatible: NO

When I try to actually run it and check for fault codes it says

No response from controller

Ive tried everything... Can someone please help me!!!!!  I dont have a car untill I get it running right

what version of vag com is it? also what cable you using?

311 and its an ebay cable..  I think my problem is the cable.  I was able to scan a total of about 4 things, like central locks and other bs.  But everything else I try just says "no response from controller" so the only thing I can think is the cable is crap

Well its not the cable..  I took it to Autospeed's shop and had my friend run their vagcom and the same thing happen..  So now what? any ideas?  I just graped an ECU off ebay for pretty cheap then I'll just have that customed tuned.  But if I can figure out what is going on with this ECU I can sell it with the GAIC chip in it

there's a guy on Audiworld who had the exact same problem. he disabled LIFO plus lowered the baud rate and got it to work. which COM port are you using? serial ports are usually COM 1 but to make sure go into the device manager and double check the serial connection is the same COM port you are using to connect to the VAG software

here's the link to the thread (if you can understand AW's retarded forum) http://forums.audiworld.com/vag/msgs/6289.phtml

try messing around with the baud rate. the guy used 9600. if the software is reading the right COM port as what you have that usb drive set up as, it should work

I've tried.. its weird because it reads like 4 channels but wont get the other ones..  My friend scanned it for me before on his shop's program and it was fine.. then I needed it scanned again so I tried to scan it with mine and I could only get it to read 4 channels, so I had my friend hook up his shop's Vag again and his did the same thing..  So I feel like it has something to do with my car

You're not supposed to be able to access every module. There are several in Vag-Com that aren't applicable to every car. I played around on mine at first, but I think I was only able to get into a handful, too...transmission, engine, ABS, central locks, and maybe one or two more. I don't think that the problem you described in the first post is a symptom of the Vag-Com issues you're experiencing.

most people can get into at least the engine and tranny.. I can only get into my dash.  The last time my buddy scanned for me the volts were off and so was the throtle body.. same thing happens and the TB wont set itself when i pull the battery off.  I've decided its not vagcom since autospeed's shop vagcom read the same as mine.. It is a problem with my ECU or god forbid my wires
