^^^ what he said, 235's will also work but they may lead to rubbing if you ever lower it cause of the addtional width

I have 18x8.5" wheels on my car right now...

originally i had 235/40/18 tires, but wen I went with race springs (2 inch drop), I had a rubbing issue only when bottoming out(which was remedies by rolling my fenders)

but now I have 225/40/18, and rolled fenders and I don't have to worry about a thing with my 2" drop

these are my 235/40s...my 225's are stretched and not as tall

225/45R17 is what I was running on mine.  They look fine at stock ride height, but like with most wheels, they look better when the car is lowered.

Agreed.  I have 235-45-17 tires on my 17" wheels, and the rolling diameter is very close to that of the OEM 16" wheels, which is good for maintaining calibration of the speedometer and odometer.  If you want to play around with tire sizing to find the closest match to your car's OEM size (to maintain the accuracy of speedo etc) go here and play with different tire sizes:

size of wheels depends on suspension...

if you only want to go down an inch stick with 17", but if you want a 2" drop go for 18's

They almost look a little bland, to be honest, but they're still an improvement over stockers.  They will definitely make nice winter wheels, though.

i kno what u mean with it lookin a little bland...  i need new tires and i dont feel like wastin money for tires for my ugly stock rims...  i would keep these for winter wheels... but i dono if i should just save some more money and buy better rims... but then i would have to rock my stock rims for winter...   decisions decisions decisions lol

Where you been Rudi?
Springs holding up ok?
I've been looking for wheels for this summer too.
Thinking of going with ASA R1 17's from tirerack, or Flik Justice silver 17's from edgeracing.

If that's your take on it, I'd save the money for wheels that you really want.  Nothing wrong with stockers for winter, especially if that means you can run choice wheels in the nice weather.  I bought my 17s mainly because I was down to the wear bars on the tires on my OEM wheels, and even with a "bro deal" through a friend, I was looking at $490 for tires for my 16s.  I got the 17s with 235-45-17 Michelin Pilot tires for $550, so the extra $60 was money well-spent at the time.

Whats goin on Eric?  Suspension is doin just fine... besides the fact that its stock and is waay to high lol... i gotta eventually throw some coil rovers on it...

I was lookin at the asa ar1 on tire rack... i like how i can get them in 17x8...  but im not even sure what rims to get any more... i think i have the rim fever lol

hey how big can you go with stock suspension? i wanna get coilovers at some point but for now i wanna get some rims..im not crazy so dont think im trying to fit 20"s on it or anything. i hear people putting 18"s?

18s are no issue.  19s have been run but it takes the right car to pull em off.  I've seen one B5 Avant pull off 20s and look good.

The only reason I want 17's is the roads are too messed up around here for 18's.
I like the ASA R1s, but they aren't listed for the B5 S4 though, so probably a brake fitment problem if upgrading to big brakes.
The Flik Justice are also 17 x 8, and they are listed for the B5 S4, so hopefully brake clearance won't be a problem there.
