So you're saying that the 5th gear in the 2.8 trans is longer? So you rev lower with the new trans, in ALL gears? I remember our old 2.8... and on the highway, in 5th... I remember it revving the same.

I DO however recall the 2.8 tranny being buttery smooth... my tranny pisses me off at times, my 2nd gear is clunky as hell these days.

130mph....but that was in my brothers GT3...in my car i've only done 110

i acually owned a yellow one, very limited, only had 2000 miles when i smashed it...something like 16in of frame twist...and mazda corp. found me the upgraded rx-7 from in house. I was told it had many mods by mazda, they were testing for the rx8 2xturbo.

let me say, this car smoked everything, and got sideways chriping into 3rd gear.

snork thast too bad about teh RX-7. Can i ask where the hell u hit 180? I hope it was on a track or autobahn cause thats crazy. The RX-7 or 8 and the Supra are the only japanesse cars i like. Well there is teh 350Z and teh G35 but i mean those mostly.

ya, i love the rx-7, both were r1 models. The TT is the closest thing to the rx-7, as far as feel. The quattro makes the car complete. And yes 180 is insane, I did't normally drive that fast, just wanted to see what it had I now follow all posted speed limit signs, when i see them

ive hit 120 on a very narrow and bumpy one lane road, this is the only place that has a straight and no cops- Audi 1.8t

Heh, the fastest Ive ever been was 155 in a mercedes e55 amg....with 5 people in it. It would hit 155, then rpms would drop a little, then hit 155 again....those cars are bad! But the fastest Ive ever driven was 145 in my gsr.

130+ in my old car, 1997 Honda Prelude on the FL Turnpike heading south to the Keys. Was floating at that speed, adrenaline rush to the max. 110 in the A4 but once I chip in a few days, I'll test top speed on the way back to Miami if I see an open road.

I topped 165mph in my MR2 Turbo, on the M60 in the UK, and around 130ish in mt A3 Tdi redeye, (superchipped to about 160 bhp, but shedloads of torque), and on water, only been about 40 knots on a norsafe Jet boat, (300 bhp cummins deisel), when I was the FRC driver, out working offshore in the Persian Gulf. Managed over 500mph when sat on a passenger plane.

Just over 170 in my '99 NSX..

Back in highschool the top speed was 86MPH in an '86 Civic Si Hatchback... and it was as scary as PISS!! The whole car rattled!!

Now... 155mph on my ZX6R
And... 132mph in the A4 (it needs to go faster!!!!!!!)

Weird question... what are the chances of swapping a 6 spd. tranny into a B5 1.8TQ??? (such a thing??)

the chances are slim to none....but you can swap a 2.8 tranny into there, it's a direct fit and it'll let you get up to probably 140...it's also stronger than the 1.8 tranny

160mph in my A4. Driving on A60 between Belgium and Germany, it actually felt as if I were doing 95mph. Drivin like I'm the only one on the road with loaded guns but careful.

Just hit 133 in my car the other day on I-95. Still had more to go but those cars were getting a lot bigger too fast, heh.

Someone said they did 85 in their civic and got scared. Try 120 in my CRX and around 105 you would feel the car begin to raise off the ground due to lift. I hit a bump and went flying, landed in control...........THAT WAS SOO MUCH FUN!!!

I only hit 140, in my S4 could'nt get to the governor cuz my radar detector registered Ka band Radar ahead and I slowed down, then sure enough bout 1/2 mile up the road was a CHP.
