As the title says,

Will 18x8 ET35 lowered on Koni Coilovers, with 235/40/18 tires work , or will I run into rubbing?

Ehhh, probably rub.   My konis are set in the middle and my car looks slammed, so if you have the same, then you might want to raise it a bit with 18's.   I imagine that with a spacer, you'd get enough clearance.   Probably will still rub in the back when the car is full of passengers and you take a bump hard.

Cheers!

im more worried about how it will be offset wise. I know we need to ideally have a offset of 40-50 on our cars. But this offset on this wheel is +35, has anyone had experience with this?

will i need to run a thinner tire ( i dont want to)

I have 18X8s with 45MM offset and 225/40s. Another 10MM shift would probably rub like, fulltime.  Bad idea, IMHO. get at least 45MM and closer to 50MM offset if you can.

With 45MM offset you should clear 225/40-18s without a problem.  To clear 235s you need 47 to 50mm offset to pull the rubber away from the fender lip.  More than 50mm and it's likely that you'll rub something on the inside, like the strut.

A3s are pretty tight tolerance machines when it comes to the wheels, especially when you have COs installed.  I know there are a lot more 35MM offset wheels than 45s or 50s, and that makes it tougher to find what you like, but what fits, fits, and what doesn't, doesn't.

Also - try to keep the combo weight under 45-47lbs if possible (like 20 lb wheels and 25Lb tires) otherwise the extra unsprung weight will kill your handling, the car will feel like a dog.

The best A3 wheels out there right now are OZ Ultraleggera from TireRack.  Not cheap - $335ea, but light, stong good looking and they have the proper offset.  Enkei GTC01 are also really nice but at $425 a throw - too rich for me.  If you want cheap, try the ASA JH3s for $82 ea for 18X8-45 - I use 'em for my winter tires.  Not that light, but durable and very affordable and definitely not ugly.  The ASA AR1 BBS reps are also a pretty good deal, decent weight, the right offset and come in 4 finishes.

Finally, I love the Hartmann R8 reps, but they tend to be on the heavy side as well, and at $265 not cheap.  But if looks were my priority, I'd stop looking with the R8 style.  They are killer on an A3.
